  1. I did not expect Corbin to give up this many points in all 3 of their distict games combined let alone in one half. Corbin does not generally run the score up. Watkins numbers are incredible. Only 7 carries indicates the Hounds were not fatting his stats.
  2. South is loaded at guard. Their depth is unreal. They will have the best JV team in the area. I don't know if Clontz will play down any but with Mitchell, Sears and Sanders they will have a lot of quality young kids. Michell and Sears are skilled athletic kids. I haven't heard much about Sanders other than he has decent skills. He could be at the wrong place at the wrong time with this many good ball players at South right now.
  3. South only played 9 kids last year and only 7 got meaningful minutes. Smith and Dean both played huge roles. South has a lot of kids but I do not expect Coach Wright to p;lay a lot of kids. Carr and the KC kid will get most of the availabe minutes. Smith and Brashear will fill the 8th and 9th man roles. Anybody who thinks SL will run it with St. John there is confused. They will slow the game down so that St. John can maximize his proportion of their shots. Who do you want taking the majority of your shots, the best player in the region or an untested guard. Watkins and Gilbert should get the majority of the remainder of the shots. South's advantage is King Kong in the middle and this team will rotate on him. Has Karr went back to Indiana?
  4. I love to follow high school sports and always enjoy picking up a local paper from a community that I do not live in. There is a wealth of information and they often cover the kids who are not the stars. These kids, the grinders, are usually the differance between winning and losing. Boxhead Rawlings at Clay County and Aaron Manns at Corbin are probably the best examples of these type of kids. South Laurel does not win a state championship without Warren Gross' defence. The Lexington Herald Leader does not tell us about these kids. They only tell us how many points Richie had. There was no mention of the Hendrickson kids injury last year or Josh Smith rolling his ankle in the Courier Journal. The local papers know how important kids like that are.
  5. Pulaski should win but SL will make it closer than most expect. Maroons 22-16.
  6. Williamsburg has to win both games to win the district. The tiebreaker is not in their favor. Ryan Moses will see that the Jackets score. Petit and Perkins must step up on D for them to have a chance. The big boys have got to make some plays on D. Collins has been a one man wrecking crew on defense. He will need some help this week. They will also need to let Thomas play on D. He has a good combination of size and speed. The Jackets must not try to play undersized kids at the ends and linebackers. If they do the Eagles will run over them much like Harlan. Lowery if healthy will make a big differance at safety. The special teams also must play better. At times they have been horrendous this year.
  7. SW in a close one. 21-14. Mercer is at a crossroads. They can come out and compete or give up on their season. I believe that they will compete.
  8. Uglier than Bubba's 8th grade formal date. 42-0 at half. Corbin is usually very compassionate in these games so the final score will not reflect their dominance.
  9. Raiders should rack up #6 this week. What a differance a couple of years make. It must be nice to complain after a 20 point win.
  10. Breathitt. 28-12. They have played a very tough schedule and it will begin to play dividends on Friday.
  11. Coach Donahue is great but. The Bulldogs have more athletes than his Greendragons. Speed kills. Hazard by 10.
  12. Did Varney have another big night? He is a one man wrecking crew.
  13. Coach Mills will have his kids ready to play. KC in a close one. 21-20.
  14. 3 missed field goals may turn into touchdown drives as this season progresses. Trinity has found away to get better for the playoffs the last couple of years so I will not count them out.
  15. The gates would be great. I believe that this would be a money making venture. The national press would also be great. They may want to continue beating up on schools half their size or X and T could step up and play with the big boys. This championship would be more meaningful than a KHSAA title.
  16. Corbin should move up to 3A based on numbers. Boyle, Corbin and Somerset in one district would be a war.
  17. Boyle is the best 4A team in the state. Spreading it out gives Catholic something else to prepare for. Their marching towards a battle of the Titans with the Bobcats from Log Mountain.
  18. I think the Miller kid is great but St. John is clearly the best player in the 13th. He can dominate games at either end of the court.
  19. Highlands is a machine. Is there anybody in Northern Ky that can play with them?
  20. Great homecoming for the Cards. I missed this one.
  21. Bell County is just superior to everybody in this district. They have overrun the #2 and #3 team in their district.
