Wednesday and Friday for me. Bad scheduling on my part will prevent me from attending Thursday & Saturday.

Used the "back roads" method into and out of NKU all week and had no issues with traffic, access to parking, etc....

:thumb: The game had it 's moments and did not lack for drama but poor shooting and play overall was sloppy. In a sense probably expected with so much on the line. As far as the trash talking and some of the extracirricular activities it is a by product of the era we live in and has very little effect on the players or the game. This is their era and it's just part of the game they play.

Technology is not there at the high school level and to get the number of cameras to properly cover the angles necessary would be cost prohibitive. Would need monitors at scorers table, etc. If you do not have all of the proper angles covered then you just leave yourself open for same type of debates.

Could not be more wrong! Over the course of the season we see Coach Humphries so much we don't know why he doesn't have a reserved seat at the end of the Scott HS bench! Not too sure about how many times he scouted Pendleton Co but his staff works very hard at being prepared so would not be surprised if he took in a few of their games as well.

Not sure what Dixie has coming back at the PG position so will Hatton have to move to PG next year? Playing PG changes the dynamic of your ability to score especially if you are playing on a good team with other scoring options.

I am going to go with a Dixie/NCC final with Dixie cutting down the nets. Think the Ryle/NCC semi will be the best game of the final four and would not surprise me if Ryle pulled a minor upset. Think Downs had a fantastic game last night and was absolutely the difference in the game. Running mate Stanley also had some big shots down the stretch. I think Downs will have the opportunity to be the best "pure" pg in Northern Kentucky next year. Shouldn't be that much of a stretch as he has been in top 5 in assists all season long. He has a good handle, distributes the ball and knocks down open shots. I think there are better all around guards but he will be as important to his teams success next season as any of those players. Give Coach McQueary credit for having a great game plan and his players for executing that plan. Way to beat Boone County is to get out to an early lead and force them to come out of that match up zone. Boones weakness is they are not a very good man to man team and that includes their guards. If they can sit in that zone and only have to guard a portion of the floor they can be very tough because you don't get a lot of second chance opportunities with Brown and Crabtree.

Don't sleep on Brossart next year in the 10th. They have got a special group coming thru with this years freshmen class. Montgomery County will be the favorite next year but Brossart will be a tough out next year and could follow with a nice couple year run after that.

Attended the 10th Region games at BOK a couple years back and environment was not an issue. Well attended and place was rocking.

Scott wins it's 4th Dsitrict title in a row and Kellen Smith claims his third consecutive district tourney MVP. Not sure if either one have ever been done in Scott HS history. Not exactly a news flash here but Brad Carr can coach. To coax a district championship, NKAC D1title out of this group and 18 wins is COY material. To borrow a line from the CovCath broadcast team Carr lets his players make plays. Sounds simple but not every coach is confident enough to overhaul his style of play every year based on each teams strengths. Couple that with a POY candidate and this is the result.

Giesler is the best big man in N Ky this year but this isn't the strongest of years for the 9th Region. There is a good crop of bigs in N Ky this year but none are slam dunk D1 caliber players and only a couple of them are going to get an opportunity to play at the D2 level. This is not meant to disrespect Giesler but he is not the best big man since Jennings. Neltner went on to play in the SEC and Doellman played at X. Brock played at EKU. These are just the guys that come to mind without doing any research.

I am rooting for Dixie to win the 9th because Trammel is one of my favorite players and after bouncing back (no pun intended) from his injury it would be a great way to cap off his high school career. Coming up thru the ranks he was a PG who scored in bunches but he has been able to change his game and become the floor general that Dixie needed to make them the best team in the 9th.

Who are the D1 schools who have offered Stauffer?

Jake Giesler is a vey good high school player and one of the best high school players in Northern Kentucky this year but Jennings is one of the all time greats from this area. Some big men that come to mind would be Neltner, Brock, Doellman....

Let me start this by saying I like Coach Hicks. My perception is that he is a good coach. His reputation amongst his peers is that he is a solid coach. I see him coach 4-5 times per year and he is very animated and works hard the whole game. When I have spoken to him away from the gym he comes across as being very passionate about the game and his teams. Without being at practice on a daily basis I think it is tough to determine just how good any coach actually is. When you say talent is not being properly utilized thats a pretty open ended statement I think it is tough for any coach to live up to the expectations of all of the parents. I have never been convinced that the talent on this team was as good as some of the preseason hype. I saw a team that lacked leadership on the floor and wasn't able to execute in critical situations. Sometimes you have to hold the players accountable? Did they execute the game plan as put in place by the staff? Did they set the picks to get other guys open? Did they box out? Were they committed to getting the 50/50 balls? All coaches stress these things but if the players don't buy into the system then they are not going to be successful no matter who is coaching.

So what you are saying is that when they announce the All 10th Region teams the starting 5 of GRC should comprise First Team All Region?

TOG...Didn't chose to ignore it but why would I comment on those teams misfortunes on a CovCath thread and I would think Holmes situation is a little different? I have been a huge supporter of CovCath on BGP all year and Jake Thelen is one of my favorite players. Just stating that I would be concerned if I were a CovCath fan. As far as the officials if CovCath does make it to the regional tournament they will get the officials from that same association. Same guys who call the 10th and 11th regions.

This game would concern me if I was a CovCath fan. This isn't baseball where you "throw off" your pitching staff to get ready for start of district play in your last regular season game. Basketball requires a certain amount of intensity especially this time of year. Not necessarily whether you went down there and won but how did you handle the adverse circumstances. Madison Central has had a nice year and has a solid team but not 25 points better than CovCath. How are you going to handle circumstances this Tuesday if players are still under the weather or foul trouble? How are you going to react if Holy Cross comes out and punches you in the mouth right away with a quick start? It's one and done for either HC or CovCath on Tuesday in one of the best first round matchups in the area. Can't wait to watch see that one!

This is one I just don't get? When you are given an opportunity to be part of a team there shoud be an understanding that a certain level of commitment and sacrifice is part of that deal. You only get so many opportunities in high school to be a part of a team and if one week of spring break is worth more to you than that then that is on the student athlete and not the program or the coach.
