Congrats to the coaching staff and players on winning the NKAC D1 Conference Championship! Surprised that Scott has never won conference before? They have had some good teams over the years.

If you like your basketball game to resemble football without pads then this was the game to watch. Very physical on both sides. Don't know if I have ever seen a high school basketball game with so many game stoppages for blood Cooper is just a very sound defensive team that plays very very hard. Would not want to have to play them in first round of districts. You might beat them but you are going to feel it for a couple of days. Good win for Scott heading into districts.

Dixie is a very tough team to zone with all of the shooters on the perimeter. If Dixie gets out to the lead Boone County can't match up in man to man. Like Dixie by 10 on Senior night.....65-55!

Senior night in Taylor Mill. Always a tough battle with Cooper as they play very hard for Coach Sullivan. Thoughts...predictions??

Like NCC as I don't think Conner has an answer for Giesler but am probably like everybody else in Northern Kentucky waiting on Conner to get that signature win and go on a run. Senior night would be a good time to get rolling. Picking NCC by 6....62-56

Don't know if I would agree with that statement. Perkins and Mullins have both been instrumental in Ryles second half run. Perkins in particular has been very very good in the past month plus. When I watch Mullins he is very smooth and very athletic. Going to be interesting to watch him next year when it will be "his" team. Flesch is more of a pure pg but Perkins and Mullins are very good as combo guards who can bring the ball up the court and get Ryle into their offense. I think that Ryles advantage over Conner right now is the guard combo of Stinson, Perkins and Mullins

Reflection of their coach. One constant in Carr's tenure has been that his teams play hard. Highlands had size advantage but Scott was coming down with rebounds in traffic and getting majority of 50/50 balls.

Nice road win for Scott playing without their second leading scorer. Big night for Stivers shooting the ball and Smith with a double/double with 14 assists. Scott can be a very dangerous team when they shoot the ball well. They are able to put a ton of pressure on you defensively by being able to spread the floor and knock down shots. If they can continue to get contributions from Stivers and Farris with some bench help from Jackson they will be tough to deal with when Haynes returns. Scott is now 9-2 in last 11 games and seem to be playing well heading into tournament time. Nice to see Jack Stewart back in uniform and playing well.

Nice win for Holmes without the two senior starters. More fuel to the fire to keep the Conner thread going :popcorn::popcorn:

Would add Clay Robinson of Conner to this list. While they have struggled from a team standpoint Robinson has been very good all season while battling a tough shoulder injury.

Jasper has 2 scholarship opportunities already on the table and will most likely add to that total by the end of the week!

:thumb: Think some of the talent was overrated/overhyped and with the added expectations of the preseason ranking it was not a recipe for success. At the end of the day you are still talking about a group that has not been out of the districts and to suddenly make them preseason regional favorites? Conner has been in a lot of game this season but just has not been able to close the deal. Just don't see that player who is capable of taking over a game in those tight spots.

Ft Thomas is always a tough place to play. Not sure if Haynes from Scott is back to 100%. Look for a close game with Scott winning 60-54.

Not to be redundant but Hodges with 1 point...:confused: ' You would think with HC style of play that an athletic 6'9 wing be much more of a factor in the game? Can Conner bounce back in time to be a factor in districts or will it be a situation where these guys can't wait for the season to end?

Game is all about match ups and CovCath matched up well with Boone Co. Teams that give CovCath trouble have really good guard play. If CovCath can get past HC in districts then it is going to be about getting a good draw in regionals. Still think there is about 6 teams that could win the 9th.

Man up whole game until going to zone coming out of a time out with about 2:00 left in game when up about 5 points. Zone seemed to confuse Holmes as they didn't get into their zone set right away and had valuable seconds tick off the clock. Thought it was a good change up coming out of a time out late in the game. Solid coaching!!

There is probably 3 POY awards in play for this area. There is a 9th Region POY (10th Region as well) who is actually introduced during the state tournament (not sure who votes on that and think it must be a senior), Cinti Enquirer N Ky POY picked by the paper with input from various sources and NKBBC (coaches association) POY with 3 different winners in D1, D2, D3 NKAC divisions.

Not underestimating Hattons contributions but think that Dixie with Trammell, Pike, Stansberry and Hassell would still be a team in contention in a 9th Region where everybody is pretty equal. They might not be considered one of the favorites but still relevant in the discussion. I am not so sure you could say that about CovCath, NewCath or Scott. I actually think Trammell is equally important to Dixies post season run. Having Matt allows Hatton to do what he does best and score the basketball. While Hatton is the best player on that team Trammell sets them up to succeed.

Not to threadjack this into a POY discussion but Jake Thelen does not get enough credit in this area. I don't think Thelen, Giesler and Smith get enough credit for what they have done to make their teams relevant. Not a knock on Hatton as I have said before he is one of the top 3-4 players in N Ky and will probably rack up multiple POY awards but Dixie without Hatton is still relevant and I don't know if you can say that about Scott, NewCath or CovCath. Giesler has taken a NewCath team with very little varsity experience and they have to be considered as one of the top teams in the 9th Region. Thelen is the leader on a CovCath team with very little varsity experience and CovCath was borderline dysfunctional last season with how they interacted with teammates and coaches. Smith has taken a Scott team that is probably one of the least talented teams in Taylor Mill over the past couple of years to 14 wins and #1 seed in district. Intangibles isn't a measureable or a stat but I think these seniors deserve a lot of additional credit for the things they do that do not show up in a boxscore.

3 games in 3 nights it is tough hill to climb for Brossart. Hard to bounce back from a tough physical game the night before much less trying to do it 3 nights in a row.

Giesler might win POY but no way "notch or two" above Smith & Hatton when talking about "complete game". Statistics just don't back up that statement. N Ky POY is a three horse race right now between those three and it probably comes down to postseason success.

Brossart frosh are as good a team as I have seen at that level all year. Even more impressive of a group when you factor in Burns & Rieger playing at the JV/Varsity level exclusively. If this group continues to improve they could be looking at nice run in the 10th over the next couple of years.
