  1. I have known the Pike's for a whole lot of years and followed Zeke since he was about 10 years old on the local sports scene. I have always tended to give him the benefit of the doubt whenever stories have tended to pop up about different issue. I like the kid and have actually found him to be engaging and charismatic but also have seen the ultra competitive side and some poor judgement. However there are a whole lot of kids over the years that I have seen make mistakes. The difference is that with Zeke's dad being a high profile athlete and local businessman Zeke's exploits tend to get into that 24 hour newscycle. While that high profile has created some opportunities for Zeke over the years I tend to think it has to be a burden at other times. With all of that being said the sheer amount of rumors of things that he has alledgedly been involved with over the years leads me to believe that where there is smoke there is fire. People on this site and in the community tend to root for the student athletes to succeed but with the litany of poor choices it almost seems like he is letting the community down. I don't think anyway is asking to be Tebow like in his choices but some accountability and humility would go a long way with the rabid sports fans in the community. The sad thing for me is that when I heard of this latest incident or some of the other incidents is that I wasn't surprised. I hope Zeke goes down to Auburn and turns everything that happened into a positive and has a great career.
  2. Pretty solid list on teams and players. Just seems difficult to have a top 10 list without Saunders from Brossart? A player to watch is Maniacci from Cooper. He could be a top 5 player by end of season.
  3. Not sure how many of the 2011 class actually playing at the next level from N Ky but I know Jake Geisler got a couple of minutes in the Jacksonville/Florida State game and Jake Thelen has been playing very well for Spring Hill. Kellen Smith will be redshirting at SVSU. Not sure about Bobby Stauffer at Ohio Dominican or Zach Perkins at Tiffin?
  4. Nice job by Coach Snapp! Thats a pretty solid field for an inaugural event
  5. High school basketball as a rule is a guards game and Carr does a great job coaching to what his teams strengths are on a year to year basis. He is confident enough to change things up on a year to year basis. Scott might struggle out of the gate but they will be solid by January.
  6. No....could not compete in the 9th. They have a couple of nice players and Schoonover is a legit top 10 player in the area but no depth.
  7. Unless the rule has been changed in the past two years there is a KHSAA rule prohibiting participation in showcase events or tournaments once the first day of school has started. Local player from Dixie Hts lost a couple of games to KHSAA suspension a couple of years ago to this rule.
  8. You see a lot of early commits in volleyball as well. College coaches are able to see these young athletes on the club circuit and project them as to how they will fit into their program in a couple of years. This seems to work way better than with their male counterparts. Of course nothing is binding until you sign the NLI.
  9. McClendon played varsity basketball for Holmes prior to transferring
  10. Very good ball player and an even better young man! Great family as well. Congrats!
  11. I have been impressed with Kellen Jenkins from CovCath this summer. He has good size for a guard and plays hard on both sides of the court. I would be interested to hear why he didn't play more varsity minutes for CovCath last season?
  12. Team plays with good chemistry and they play hard on both ends of the court. Think that is a tribute to their coach. Don't know when Hester is done playing at NKU but somebody is going to get a very good coach in their program soon. He is going to be a very successful high school coach whenever he gets that opportunity.
  13. Must have been something in the water in Indy as I saw more T's at the Hoosier Shootout and the Adidas event than I can remember in any events I have attended.
  14. Before you give all of the credit to the CovCath influence the Hitmen organization has had some very successful teams at these age groups using these same philosophies. Contrary to popular belief (of some) this style of baseball was not invented in Park Hills.
  15. While there might have been some extenuating circumstances regarding his exit as a coach don't underrate the opportunity to teach 5 years in Covington and significantly update his pension. If you aren't going to be the head guy at a place you love start thinking about your future.
  16. I think coaches have majority of the input and then you have to factor in who is available to play with vacations, leaving early for school, playing baseball, etc..
  17. Will Rebholz be playing football or baseball at the college level? Big time athlete...
  18. Any feedback from this camp? What teams played well? I heard that Community Christian went undefeated in the "B" section? That would be pretty solid for CCA as they don't get a lot of opportunity to play against KHSAA schools. They have solid guard play with Schoonover and Cleamons who both could play for any team in N Ky.
  19. Brossart will compete for district title with Fardo, Jennings and Saunders leading the way. However, before you put them and the Camels in the district championship game there is the matter of the 4 time defending district champs from Taylor Mill. They have a pretty good coach who always seems to find a way to win the district title.
  20. 21. Just like basketball there seems to be a 9th Region bias when talking POY but how about Jake Rebholz from Campbell County. No one had a better season offensively and also a contributor on the the mound to a team that advanced to the regional tournament.
  22. Corners in and middle of infield at DP depth would have been my call.
