Not likely Estill beats East .... But I'm pulling for the E-N-G-I-N-E-E-R-S ...... Going to miss the camping trip to Estill ... Maybe East gets tired from the bus ride ....

Agree on Ethan .... great to see him take control ,posted such before we this thread became Boyd focused ... Also agree Devils have more than enough talent. The coaches will use the upcoming "cupcake " portion of the schedule to sort thru. Looking for a much different team in week 3 of the playoffs... Also think #10 is a player , #40 will be with more snaps and need to find a regular place for #5 ..... Does anyone know why #55 didn't play ?

Both these teams were the real deal. Very impressed by both , level of play was end of season - state champion game performances ... Certainly expect to see both.

RedDevilMVP06: Ashland needs to consider a new direction or get use to under achieving. This isn't new , even Dickie was down. Stand by this , Ashland did take a different direction - it's now ground based. The Thomas kid has stepped up --- on the ground ... When Ashland committed to the run things began to improve... Also said many times Mahan is a player and needed to be on the field .... No charge for the advice ...

BC will be just fine , I really liked their offense .. Certainly more fits high school than all that passing ... Look for big things in years to come if present coach and staff stay awhile ...

Ethan Gullett had real nice game on defense line , good for him ,nice kid ... Devils win out from here on .... no one will challenge until third week of playoffs .... Coaches have lot's of week to tune everything up for playoff run ...

Are you kidding , Russell rolls , this is Ivan night ... the echo's of Devils for decades will be on hand ... Devils win out ... Next real game will not be until week 3 of the playoffs ...

Raceland big over Greenup ...... From week 1 with Ashland , Rams would give the Devils everything they wanted and more .... Devils would have to pass - exhibit some balance to win .... Rams have balance and are very well coached ... Really like the intensity of head coach spills over to the kids ...

Beware of the Senators they will not go easy. Ashland has to pass very well to win. West will commit to stopping the run and "siders" are tough minded , rugged kids and community ...

West isn't called the wild , wild west for nothing. Also refered to as siders , being from west side of P Town. They all have a chip on their shoulders .. West will be physical , hard nosed and live on emotion ... Don't expect any breaks from the refs ... Beat Portsmouth in the friday night rain ... Portsmouth had more skill , West was more basic and mistake free ... Portsmouth for sure outgained ... also had several turnovers .. Should be a good one ... Good luck to both teams ..

How has practice gone this week for the Mighty Devils?? Have the boys been working hard?? I look for Kasey Clark to showup big in this game and to prove to everyone who doubts him as a premiere back and he will show the state that he is a legit and probabl winner for Mr. Football

A little Mountain pride is on the line here in this one Lawrence came oh so close last year but decided to go for two to try to win it.... The dawgs no matter what kinda team they have are always hard to knock off in the DOG POUND you can better believe Billy Goldsmith will have the Dawgs barking their loudest.... but I see the Pirates prevailing in an old fashion SLOBBERKNOCKER Belfry-17 Dawgs-14

This is game is really too close to call... In my heart I am pulling for Russell always but the strengths of Ashlands game plays into the Devil's weakness and that is the secondary... IF Mahan has a big game through the air then the Tomcats I hate to say it will beat the devils.... I dont think Russell's corners even being a Russell fan myself can cover Ashland one on one in the open field... Russell does not have the great secondary personel that they have had in the past such as Michael Horn, Tommy Brown or Josh gross..... Russell on the other hand needs to turn this into a slow pace game and grind clock and the tempo of the game way down and slowly beat the Tomcats into submission....A steady diet of Kasey Clarke and Jones on the bootleg mixed in with a little dink and dunk passing game....

I remember when LCHS best the Devils during playoffs ... Goldsmith I .... likely the high water mark for Mr Intensity .... LCHS out hit the Devils on that night ....

Since OJ , anything Rosehill does brings the microscope ... why is this ? RH is a little Christian school with the best of intentions , right ?

Three , just last year for the Devils ... in no order 1) Newport .... team win all phases .. sum was better than parts... just barely .. 2) Belfry .... Red Army had advantage going in - been there , done that , and had physically dominated the Devils in 2004 . This door had to be kicked in ... again just barely held off the pirates ... champs didn't die easy. This game could be a table setter for many seasons to come for the Devils .. 3) OC .... almost a let down , but how can state championship not be in this mix .. OC either was overated , or just didn't show up ... But on the other had Devil coaches were as ready as any Devil team in any situation .. Coaching and preparation likely won this game ... Devils have had other big games and wins over the years but last years group of Devils did it with very little if any margin ... Now that's a Team ... It took everything every person had , kids , coaches , staff ...

Ashland has no shot at a state title in 3a this year and neither would the Devils ( even the most talented ( not champs) teams of 2002 and 2004) .... Tomcats are playing in there own backyard against a traditional opponent that is flying as high as they have in the history of Russell Program. Surely this doesn't have to keep being explained. If I was Ashland , I would play this up with the kids and community all week ... ie we need the entire school and town show up and get wild to cut down the Devils ( who just might be getting to big for their britches ) ... Atmosphere friday should be electric ... if it isn't Ashland has missed a chance for greatness ...

Good for Mercer .... For this team to achieve it's potential they have to play in some tough games during the season to get battle tested .. Who does Mercer have left that can beat them or has a good chance to ? These are the games that build a team ... Other than Ashland , Russell has no one the rest of the way , this is a concern , how about Mercer ? If I was at Mercer , I'd schedule a sat scrimmage during the season with St X , if that's what it took to really find out what I had ...

Game is back in the pound , it has to be close or LCHS has folded it's tent. Pirates have played in big games , for Dawgs this year , none is bigger. LCHS needs to rally the echo's , get a big turn out for this game and show the kids and coaches , the sideline coaches are with them thru thick and thin ... Call in Tater Mckenzie from Florida and some of the other "old timers" ...

Greatness for Ashland Seniors would be - immediate - shutting Russell up - priceless - Boyd did it last year. When you talk to anyone from Boyd on the street that's the first thing that comes up about last year and they earned it ... The bar is much higher for this years Russell program. Win or lose at Ashland the Devils next season doesn't start until the playoffs ..

You worry to much East is rebuilding this year ... I saw Rams play Ashland .. Rams are for real .... Blowout ... do you folks like chocolate cupcakes ?

OC needs to put the Tony Franklin balls in the bag for a practice or two and knock heads. OC has kids just need to hit each other and come up and tackle ... Also maybe learn to hold a little ...
