I am with you GIAT, other than the waxing last year that is the only time I have seen them? I do know that when they had Greenups Coach can't think of his name...... they were very good for several years! I am sure Ashland can play with them though!:thumb:

I believe they beat Portsmouth by 1 last night. They will definitely be looking for a bit of revenge this year. I believe they stated after the game last year, that a lot of their players had been sick all week. It's always tough when you go across the river to play a ballgame. I'll make my prediction later in the week.

It looks like Matt Thomas is playing as well as Tomcat fans knew he could play like so I like the Tomcats by a good margin

I hope the Ashland faithful and especially the players don't get overconfident because of the outcome of last years game. Portsmouth West will definitely come ready to play to make amends for last years game. The Cats definitely need to cut down on the mistakes ( fumbles, dropped balls, missed blocks) to keep the improvement going forward and to beat this next opponent and they have to come ready to play.

I know Ashland has beaten two quality opponents and lost to one of the best Raceland teams in years but they still need to do more than just show up now. They need focus, emotion and most of all quality execution. So let's not overlook this Portsmouth team and get down to business, and that is the business of winning.

I'm not real sure of what Portsmouth West has coming back this year. Usually they are a very tough team. I think they were very young last year and return alot. If Ashland plays with the same intensity and attitude they had last night they will be hard to beat. West is a tough place to play so the Tomcats better come ready. I know they will.

I too know nothing about West this year. As LRCW said, they beat Portsmouth 21-20 Friday night. Last year they were down. They are traditionally a tough team, so last years game doesnt mean much in my opinion. They'll want this game bad after last years drubbing and after looking at their schedule, Ashland is the largest school Portsmouth West plays this year. So it would arguably be their most important game this year, using the Ohio playoffs points system.

I know we put a hurtin' on them last year but I thought they had a good record last season with their running back who was putting up some big numbers. Maybe someone can help on this one.

If Ashland builds on the confidence & improvements they have made over the last 2 weeks they will be just fine...I see no need to make any major changes...Once you stop dropping the wide open passes you may really be dangerous...But, by the looks of the last few games I don't look for it to come easy for the Cats this year but they battle till the final horn & that ALWAYS gives you a chance to win...I expect the same this week...

Ashland - 21

If Matt Thomas runs the ball like he did against the red devils...this one is no contest. T-cats pull away in the second half for an easy win.

West isn't called the wild , wild west for nothing. Also refered to as siders , being from west side of P Town. They all have a chip on their shoulders ..

West will be physical , hard nosed and live on emotion ... Don't expect any breaks from the refs ... Beat Portsmouth in the friday night rain ... Portsmouth had more skill , West was more basic and mistake free ... Portsmouth for sure outgained ... also had several turnovers ..

Should be a good one ...

Good luck to both teams ..
