In the current format: Ashland vs. Russell it has been played since about 1980, but before that the Kiwanis Bowl pitted the two junior highs of Ashland,Coles vs. Putnam and has been played for decades.

Unfortunately, right now neither is Ashland. This coupled with the rash of injuries facing the Tomcats, it will be a tall task for the Cats to pull out a victory. My hearts hoping that they do, but my heads telling me they won't. Ashland falls to 0-3 in a close battle.

I agree Coach J. :thumb: Coach Hart is a very good coach and this team will improve. Now, how that translates into wins and losses is anybody's guess. This is a very inexperienced team and it will take some time unfortunately.

I think all of the harping on the whereabouts of this game by all the other local schools' fans is just mere jealousy that it happens with Ashland and not with their schools.

Unfortunately, this is a down year talent wise and number wise at Ashland. Thomas is the best choice at quarterback at this point of the season on a team of about 40 players. Coach Hart will get the ball rolling in the right direction. If you look at his record, he has historically been a slow starter having lost 3 or 4 of his 5 opening season games while at Ashland I believe and yet still averaging 9 wins a season. This teams time will come, but it will have to experience some growing pains his year, much like last Friday night.

Cngrats to Raceland on an exciting win. Ashland was a one man show last night. Mr. Carter is the real deal. This young man was very exciting to watch. Though this was a tough loss for the Cats, it still can propel them to a successfull season. Work must be done on the defense however, especially the pass defense if they expect to win games. Next Friday night will show how much heart this team really has, just as it did this time last year.

It is so sad that one has to really go to the gutter and liken the Ashland program to a wife abuser.

Football season is upon us again. There's nothing quite like football Friday nights. I look for this game to be a slow starting game, at least for the Tomcats, with all of their losses to graduation. But as it has been said before this Ashland team has talent,but only untested talent. This could be a tough game for both teams as the loss to graduation was tough equally. I will reserve my prediction as well but I do believe it will be a close, hard fought game. GO TOMCATS !!!!!

After today's scrimmage this Tomcat team has some work to do. If they can get a few breaks to go their way early in the season and pull off some wins, some much needed confidence will help revitalize this Ashland program,which is coming off some heavy losses to graduation, and will help them later in the season. There's nothing like the smell of football in the air. If only we can get mother nature to cooperate a little bit.

Very surprising and disappointing. I felt Ashland improved as a team after he was inserted into the starting lineup. But I feel confident that a replacement will step forward and Ashland will be OK.

Generally it's a list with 10 dates and 10 different high schools on it.
