Raceland goes into Putnam Stadium next Friday to meet the Tomcats in both teams season opener. I will stay with the policy that I had last year of not making predictions on Raceland's games (we were 11-2 so I ain't changing ;) ). Ashland imo should always be favorite in this one but Raceland has shown in past years that they can play with the Tomcats. Putnam is a great place to play and watch a h.s. football game and the Ashland coaches, team and fans are all class.

What are everyones thoughts on this one?

I won't make a prediction either, but I think this will be a good HS football game. And should be a good first game for both teams. Both teams have some of the same wrinkles to work out: both have an inexperienced line, both have quality personnel in the backfield, both have a new QB, and both have several new faces replacing dominate defensive players.

In by opinion, both teams will have good seasons, and both teams will be much improved come mid-season.

Why are the Rams going to putnam two years in a row?

I am going with a Raceland "W" in this one.

Why are the Rams going to putnam two years in a row?

Because that's the only way Ashland will agree to play them.

Ashland says Raceland's stadium is not large enough, but its plenty large enough for Russell and Greenup Co. If Ashland is not ready to play it could get ugly

Come on. Whats the real reason. No school would pull something like that.

We have played Ashland something like 14 times since the mid 80's and the only time we have not played them at Putnum was when they were renovating Putnum, and then we played them at Tank Stadium. They will not play us at Raceland.

For some reason this doesnt surprise me at all.

I do believe that Raceland gets a bigger pct. of the gate than usual every other year (or something like that). Anyway, it is a big Money $$$ game.

So Ashland gets the home field advantage every year.

Next thing you know they will want you to play on Saturday because its raining on Friday.

I guarantee you that Coach Hart and his staff will have Ashland ready to play. IMO Ashland will come out of the box hungry with something to prove and the Rams better be ready to meet the challenge.

Like Ram stated, both teams have question marks on both sides of the ball and are trying to replace some very good talent lost from graduation. Turnovers will play a key role in as to what direction the game may take. The game may be decided by special teams play.

Other Ram fans aren't predicting an outcome so I'll go ahead and say....

Raceland 19

Ashland 16

Good luck to both teams and I hope every player plays injury free.

All I know is that it is a mutual agreement between both schools. I have heard that this was the last year for an "all games at Putnam" deal, not sure.

I would love to play them down here in "Ramblerville" :D at our house but I also enjoy Putnam Stadium as well. That is a great atmosphere for High School Football.
