Is this an upset?

I think OHS scoring 51 is a surprise but not an upset. OHS has a solid defense and athletes every where as they normally do but I never dreamed they would put 51 on Catholic. I believe Catholic is in for a long season.

I wil hold off on a long comment about this game because I am so disgusted by the performance but I will say this team is very SOFT.

According to the radio OHS gained 371 yds on offense. Quite a turnaround from last week. It might have been even uglier if OHS didn't give back 125 yds from penalties, most of which were offensive in nature. This is two weeks in a row that OHS has been hit with an extreme amount of penalties. OHS lost Josh Hayden early in the 1st qt. and he did not return. Looked like they were working on his left knee on the sidelines.

OCHS really struggles on defense, very few solo tackles. Offensively OCHS did very little until Neil Holland got an INT which he returned 96 yds to the 2. That set up the first TD, they did put together a really nice drive for the second TD, and the third TD, I believe was after OHS pulled their 1st team defense. Had it not been for the momentum set up by the INT return, I'm not sure the offense would have gotten on track tonight.

I know the Catholic fans have been talking up the return of Stewart Ijames, but from watching them tonight I'm not sure how much difference one guy will make. He is probably a better runner than anyone they had tonight, but if I remember correctly from last year he is prone to fumbles. Although it is quite a bit down from what we are used to, offense isn't the Aces problem. As long as they continue to be so ineffective on defense any one will be able to stay in the game with them even as the offense improves.

Nice stadium, too bad OHS spoiled the grand opening. It will be interesting to see what it looks like after the actually finish the construction. I hope they had a few more gates, I don't think that I have ever waited nearly so long to buy a ticket to a high school game.

This ACES team did not deserve to open up in that stadium. As ACES FAN said, they are SOFT. They need to be taught basic tackling skills for one. And too much whining from #16, thats all he does anymore....Ijames will help running game no doubt. Foster runs like a scared little girl.

Bottom line our key players need to be going both ways....we just don't have that luxury anymore.

We are learning all about this at Mayfield. :thumb:

I don't know if I have ever been this disappointed in a Catholic football team. I am pretty sure that half of these kids could care less whether or not they play. They just want to say that they are on the team so they can impress people. Well I have news for them; the reason people were, I emphasize were, impressed with Catholic football players was because they played hard and they had respect for the OC on their helmets. These kids just sit on the sidelines and whine the whole game when Edge raises his voice to them.

Speaking of Edge, he catches a lot garbage for his in your face attitude. All I can say is that he shows more restraint than I would. I would send half of these kids packing for the effort they show. I have said this a few times already this year, this team has the talent to compete for a 2a state title but if they don't get tougher they will continue to have results like what we have in the last two games. My message to these players is that you are not playing this game for your little girlfriend sitting in the stands you are playing this game for the experience of a lifetime and for all the past and future players who will suit up for the green and white, now cowboy up and play the game the way it supposed to be played!

OHS played much tougher than OCath no doubt about it. OHS beat OCath like a drum and it could have been much worse. The Red Devils will need to cut down on the penalties if they want to be successful in 4A. You can bet Prince will have them more disciplined by the middle of the season.

What can you say about OCath? I don't know what happened during the off season but its worth questioning after watching player after player come off the field because of injury. Obviously some of the kids need to be tougher. I don't think I saw anything positive from OCath last night. They feel sorry for themselves because they are getting beat instead of fighting through it. Some players in the recent past have come through OCath and made playing in this system look easy, but its not. Those kids worked hard and were very talented, but these new kids saw(from the stands) how "easy" it looked and feel like they don't have to work for it. A change in attitude is definately needed for the Aces. Some people say its gut check time for OCath, but I think it needs to go a little lower than that.

It helps sometimes to have a senior class that cares enough to push everybody and be a leader. I have seen great teams give up when there isn't any leadership to follow or to look up to.

Your right....problem is that leader has been sidelined for a while.

OC needs to put the Tony Franklin balls in the bag for a practice or two and knock heads. OC has kids just need to hit each other and come up and tackle ... Also maybe learn to hold a little ...

Good luck, you folks are doing something right ... invite me down to the Owensboro K of C's for some cold beverage and we can discuss some more ...
