Can Rose Hill build a HIGH SCHOOL football program?

Featured Replies

Can this area handle another program? Is there support? Can they find the athletes? They sure got off to a good start Saturday with their 7th grade team. Hope they keep building.

I think the area would most definetely support another program. But to me the real question is numbers. I doubt Rose Hill would have a problem coming up with the cash needed to get started, but they need more kids if they want this to become a reality. How many kids are on the 7th grade team? What is Rose Hill's enrollement in grades 9-12? It would surely have to rise, I believe. It's not that hard to get a program started and play for a couple of years, but it would be a real challenge to keep it going. Even if they can get their enrollement up, where are they going to put all of the kids?

So the question is Can they build and sustain a quality program? The interest seems to be there. But those are good questions.

All legitimate questions. They currently have 18 kids on the roster. The 9-12 enrollment is around 80 but in the 6th through 9th it is around 115 and that is a higher than usual number. Not to get overly religious but it can and will happen if it is God's will. Good things really seem to be happening at the school.

Vince Lombardi once said "a school without football is in danger of deteriorating into a medieval study hall." I don't know if I agree but Vince was a pretty smart man.

I have heard rumors that the team will keep progreesing each year; this year its 7th next year 8th and so on. There should be great financial support by many of the parents of Rose Hill, by any means this should be an interesting development to watch over the next few years.

Apparently that is the plan, to progress as the years go. I think the 7th grade boys at the school now are very talented and they will be the focus of the building of football. I can see more kids going to the school now that a football program will be offered. The program will be a lasting program as there are parents and supporters who wish to see it happen. Just wait for the kids to show up. Build it and they will come.

It would be great to see them put a football program together. It will take some time, but with the right people involved they can make it happen. It would increase interest in the community & in the school and certainly increase the enrollment. I hope they are able to get things up and running.

It was only a few year ago that we were having this same discussion about Kentucky Christian College and they now have their own program, so yes it can work.

I believe they have a fellow over there by the name of John Stevens, I believe if they can get him involved, that he could help establish a wonderful program. He is a resource that could prove invaluable. Not to mention he has some free time these days!

With the right coaching staff and being a private school in the athlete rich Ashland area, I think they could definately build a strong program.

Where would Rose Hill play their games if they eventually play football on the high school level?

They wouldn't play all road games would they? I would think the Fairview's field might be a possibility on Saturday nights.

I would hope that a local school would be more than glad to host until they get things going full tilt. As you mentioned Fairview field would be a nice arrangement. I would say that by the interest they are getting here, all will go well.

There are somethings in the works. Not far enough along to really comment. We do play home soccor games now and a soccor/football field arrangement is another possibility. If it doesn't workout it won't be to a lack of effort.

I would cetainly think that RH could build a program. It will take a while but if the people / supporters of the school are dedicated and I belive that they are it imo can be done.
