Can Rose Hill build a HIGH SCHOOL football program?

Featured Replies

It was my opinion that it was the Verity coach that offerred up the obscene comment at the end of play that you are referring to. And Yes Rose Hill could have added another score at the end, but chose not to. Frankly, I thought that showed some class, and frankly, was a notice that they could have scored again. I was very impressed with the Rose Hill crowd which bodes well for support of a future in football. I'm not sure what coaches you're talking about, but if you're referring to coaching to win games, IS there another way to coach? These kids are in the 7th grade, this ain't JFL anymore!

Usually the one that's running up the score is not the one that starts the mouthing.:sssh: Coaching to win and trying to rub it in are two totally different approaches. And no it's not JFL anymore,.... but... it is the same type of classless style.

C'mon Kick, isn't that a bit harsh? Verity had some turnovers in their half of the field. It's not hard to score from the 25. I'm curious, were you there?

Since Kick has told us that the game was meaningless to Ashland, I am somewhat surprised at the bitterness in his posts. No one was "rubbing it in" although they could have easily done so. However, I would never expect this loser to ever admit that it was defeated by a better team. By the way, Kicker, since the game meant nothing, why did the Ashland coach make his players wear their helmets on the bus for the trip back to the school. It sure was a hot day and I'm sure, since nothing was at stake, they would have been more comfortable with their helmets off.

YAKOFNORWEGIA, the blowing was done in venues other than BGP.

Thanks. Just didn't want to miss any info. I hate it that you were offended by the comments of people who maybe were less informed.

YAK, you are like the young man awaiting the ball in your avatar. It is unlikely that anything will get past you.

We'll see tonight!:thumb:

Scooter, I can assure you that the Yak comes from the school of hard knocks, both receiving, and more often, giving. Not only will nothing get past him, I can assure you that he "gets it".

My kids go to Ashland schools and my best friends kids go to Rose Hill. I don't ever want any garbage to change that relationship. If my children play against his I hope we win but not to the point that I lose sight of the fact that we are strangers passing through this world and my hope is not in junior high football or high school football. No my kids don't play for Verity. I hope that when they are older they will play. If they don't, turkeys beware.

I had quite a bit of involvement with the RH Staff during their JFL days, and I never saw one classless act. I felt they were always fair to their players and their league. If you want to see Classless Coaches, take a hard look in your own system.

BTW, Ashland is the only ones that after they win the league , they only thank half the players on the team, like the baseball coaches do in the paper. It takes a whole team.:thumb:

Of course there are some teams that they couldnt run the score up on:thumb:

RedBlood, I am a Rose Hiller 100% and I appreciate your support of our coaches and I am in complete agreement about their level of class.

But I have to address the baseball coach you refered too. I think you are referring the the letter to the editor written by a well intened Little League coach. He listed all of the players in alphabetical order and the newspaper inadvertantly left off the first 3 players. One of the kids not listed was the assistant coaches son and two of the three had their parents listed in the letter. I can assure you it was an honest mistake and it wasn't even the coaches fault.

I hope that clears it up.

Please limit any future classless reference to the YAK and the YAK only.:D:p

Since when is scoring three touchdowns, running up the score?

I heard a different story, but I will believe ya...:thumb:

BTW, if that was the case how come I never saw another letter to editor classifying the mistake, just wondering....But like you said, especially dealing with the Daily Independent, mistakes do happen.:thumb:

I appreciate the support from rickyp. This coming from a man that shaves other men's legs. (read it another post) I will not attempt to retaliate here, I know that Mr. P is under a lot of stress with the current youth athletic scene and his own inability to understand the option. I have nothing but best wishes for him. I would like for him to remember that Gal. 5:23 mentions longsuffering as a product of love. As for the middle school game there are a lot of things that go on during a game and only those that tend to support one's views end up on here. The people involved know exactly what went on and what emotions were involved.

Unresolved differences lead to future unscheduled games.

So, is Rose Hill in the uneviable position of having to apologize for the victory? Would the circumstance be different if it would have been 8-0? I don't think that should be the case. I would hope that Verity and Rose Hill would be foes on the gridiron as well as the hardwood for years to come.

Bottom line is it should be about the kids, and not coaches or parents egos.

Look around the area and see what has happened over that past 10 yrs. When my oldest son started playing JFL we competed against 4 teams in our own JFL and also against multiple teams in Westwood, Raceland and Ashland. Then last year when my youngest son played, Boyd didnt even play Ashland and surrounding areas and Boyd has even fallen to the waste side with only one team.

Bottom line is like I said it is for the kids and not for the Coaches.
