  1. If this works out would it mean that the constant changing of some teams might be a thing of the past? I know I would really like that. JCHS always seems to be right on the borderline for 3A or 4A.
  2. During my years at JCHS(which admittedly was quite a few years back) our band topped 100 members every year. We were always the top band in our area and were always in state competition. Of course, those were the years of MR. D. Since he left for Pikeville College the interest in band has really dropped at JCHS. It's really very sad that in a school our size we can't field a marching band bigger than 50 members.
  3. Everyone here knows we're gonna miss Blume and Music. We're just hoping our boys coming up can fill the voids.
  4. I understand you've got kids in baseball and track during spring practice, but we usually have 50 or so kids out there anyway.
  5. This is a great idea. It would sure make those goal posts seem as wide as the ocean come Friday night.
  6. You shouldn't sound so cocky. Any team can be beat on any given day.
  7. First of all I don't believe there is "bad blood" or ill feelings between Matney and Trimble. Trimble was very instrumental in getting Matney to JC. I know this first person. Trimble is pleased with the job Matney is doing with the football program. Secondly, yes JC sports is "political". Most high schools are the same. If you deny that then I suggest you take a closer look at some of the schools you support. When you deal with high school sports you inevitable deal with parents who believe their children deserve more playing time than any other child. It's the nature of parents to think their children are better. Some of the parents do have "influence", thus putting the coaches and administration in a position none of them want to be in. Was the Les Trimble firing "political"? Possibly, but not everyone who supports JC sports jumps on the "kool-aid" drinking bandwagon. So to call out the JC supporters and lump us all together is wrong. No JC is not perfect in the way it deals with athletics, but no schools are. We can only continue to support our children and their coaches. To do otherwise would not help the progress of our children or the program. So, can we just agree that most of the parties involved in the athletic programs at JC are there, because they care about our athletes and the progress of the school?
  8. The Tiger faithful have never been known for being quiet....I don't think it will start now.
  9. Amen!!! Johnson Central will have alot to say about it!!! :thumb:
  10. Johnson Central has quite a few returning(of course we lost Blume, but don't think that will stop us). Just a couple of names: Shawn Grim Tommy Taylor Blake Johnson
  11. Johnson Central has a weight lifting class open to all students. All athletes are encouraged to take it(if their schedule allows). Also, the weight room is open after school (a coach is always there) for any other students or athletes, including the middle school athletes. Our players lift continuously year-round. The JC staff has done a wonderful job of creating conditioning programs for our players to stay in shape all year, even through the summer.
  12. I have to agree with you on that one. I think you are right about the future match ups be great games too. I know I can't wait until the '06 game.
  13. I believe the question was why Ron wasn't one of the RBs...in that respect the list of stats didn't answer the question. Johnson Central played the games they were contracted to play....they may not be powerhouses in your opinion, but they were good teams. We can't really replace many of those games....such as the Paintsville game-it's a huge game for both schools, financially it supports both teams season expenses with just that one night....I mean over 7,000 people at 5 dollars a person plus concessions. Of course it's okay with us if everyone thinks were not that strong....we like the looks on their faces after we beat them
  14. No disrespect taken...It was an awesome game to watch! Wouldn't have been great to see what would have happened if it went to overtime?
  15. So if we are to go by the stats you posted then Ron Blume gets penalized because we didn't HAVE to use him at kicking or on defense...Also it's not fair to compare the kick returns for TD's when NO ONE WOULD KICK TO RON OR any of other guys... they would rather kick out of bounds then take the chance on Ron or Shawn Grim returning it for a touchdown. I think it's sad that Blume led the state in rushing all season and still gets no respect from anyone on here or on WYMT.
  16. Knew that one would be on here...just wait until next year!! I think all of JC wins were big....to come from where we were just a couple of years ago is amazing.
  17. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to expect out of Ashland next year?? Ashland does lose some good talent, but they have a great program so you can't count them out.....I can't wait til they come JC.
  18. The primary ball carry next year will be Shawn Grim...plus JC could be passing alot more next year. JK Ratliff can really launch'em and he has a great target in Tommy Taylor.
  19. My personal favorite would be #20 from JCHS. Shawn Grim...he has almost as much speed as Blume, but he's a little stronger. He doesn't mind running through a defender or two to get his yards.
  20. There has been an awful lot of talk about how this will hurt the baseball teams, but what no one has mentioned is softball. Sorry if this steps on anyone's toes out there, but the truth is Paintsville Little League never treated girls softball equal. We couldn't even play on PLL fields because they were always booked for the other divisions or for PHS softball. So I personally am thrilled about the new league. Softball already has it's own field and we may have to share with JCHS softball, but atleast it's just one other division. At PLL we were last behind about 4 or 5 other divisions. It's really sad to hear some people on hear hoping the league will fail. I am from the county and have been involved with PLL over ten years I would never wish that PLL would fail. The truth is it is PAINTSVILLE Little League and some parents and players feel unwelcome there because they are from the county. I personally didn't feel that way. I just tried to jump in and help in anyway I could and I was always welcomed. To be perfectly honest, my children go to the county schools and I feel it is their best interest to play in the Cal Ripken league. It just makes sense to me that if the county is offering the league my child should play in that league. I hope everyone who has a daughter will consider signing her up for this league. Softball will not be an afterthought with this league. We will not have to fight for a playing field or a practice field. All the girls have such a good time together. I hope to see you on a baseball field(either one)this spring. JC20FAN
  21. I can't speak for everyone, but I haven't heard any JCHS fans say anything negative about Coach Hart or any of the Ashland team. So I don't think he got that from us. I say Ashland by a touchdown. Ashland-35 Rock-28 Or maybe it will just be by a field goal!
  22. Madison Southern is a very good team! I think if a team is going to beat them they will have to be a really good passing team. They are STRONG on defending the run.
