  1. I debated about even posting on this subject, but what the heck, here goes....I think some of the reason behind the JC fans wanting to run up the score has less to do with what happens on the field and more to do with the way the PHS fans and student have acted in the past, such as suggesting the county kids are less educated(by the way you should check the state test scores, this simply isn't true) and some other very crude references to the genetics of the county kids....I'm sure one of the PHS fans will say they are shocked by these statements(they simply wouldn't say such things...fake gasp...), but I've heard them myself. You see there has always been a belief among the PHS supporters and students that they are simply BETTER than "the hillbillies across the creek". I for one know that my children are getting an excellent education at JC and they have all the same advantages and maybe more than the PHS students. I do however share the disdain and disgust of some of my fellow JC alumni when I here such derogatory remarks from the PHS faithful. However, I also know many parents and students from PHS that I consider wonderful people. It's just a shame that a few can make the many look so bad.(and yes I realize this goes both ways) So with that said I hope for a JC victory and an injury free game. Let's remember what games we have remaining, they are the important ones. GO EAGLES!! SHAWN HOW ABOUT ANOTHER 200 YARDS THIS WEEK?!!
  2. I'll be there....watching #20 streaking to the endzone!!!!:dancingpa
  3. Of course you know my favorite player to brag on is Shawn Grim, but I just wanted to take a moment to brag on a couple of others...first Josh Gourdouze...wow what a tough kid...he is a monster on defense and here's hoping the JCHS faithful recognize and give him his props....second Brian Childers...did you see that hit he had...that hit gave Chase Richardson his touchdown. It was nice to see Chase go over and acknowledge Brian after the TD. Now how about that #20! He passed the 1000yard rushing mark tonight! Here's hoping you hit the 2000 yard mark this year! I can't wait to see you running to the endzone cross town next week!
  4. I was a witness to this one. It was quite an exhibition. Although, it probably would have been more enjoyable for me if he had been wearing the BLACK/GOLD.
  5. What Flat Gap team is this? Where are they located?
  6. I don't really have a dog in this(or cat I should say), but I agree with you about the middle school level. This seems to be a problem in several school districts. I know we've had our share. I think we are finally beginning to see the light here in Johnson County. In recent years we have started a new peewee league(beginning at age 5) and our elementary schools all the way through to our middle and high school coaches seem to be getting on the same page. Coach Music always showed an interest in the grade school and middle school teams and now Coach Matney is doing the same. I can't tell you how many times I've been to the grade school games and seen Coach Matney there, watching, talking with the coaches, players and parents. He has even made it to a few peewee games. I think to have a strong, competitive high school team you need a High School coach who will show an interest in the teams that feed into his team. I'm hoping we have that with Matney and I'm hoping we continue to have that interest from our high school coaches in the future.
  7. Actually Jones probably has 30 to 40 pounds on Blume. Blume is a small guy, if you've never seen him out of the pads it's hard to tell, but he is SMALL. I have seen Jones out of the pads and standing beside Blume, he has quite a bit of size on Ron.
  8. First of all, as a JC fan I think most of us were hoping he would get looks from D1 colleges. I don't recall any JC fans on here guaranteeing him going to D1. We may have said he had the numbers and we hoped he would get the chance, but we didn't say he was a definite D1. You seem to have some problems with JC, what's up with that? I know I have always held the opinion that he simply didn't have the size for D1.
  9. As a JC fan I of course LOVE Blume's game....but I did have the opportunity to see Beach play.....I would have to say that Beach has an edge on Blume simply because of his size and pure strength. Blume isn't a huge guy...which I think makes his accomplishments all that much more impressive, but if we're going to compare them on their abilities at the next level... I would say Beach is more of major D1 back. Blume doesn't have size on his side, but boy if he was a little bigger wouldn't he have been something to watch!!
  10. I'm not sure where he will be, but I wish him the best and I thank him for all those wonderful and amazing memories he leaves us with.
  11. I have to say I'm not looking forward to the drive down. Of course, once you get there the football facilities are beautiful and the people are friendly.
  12. Not sure where everyone will end up playing, but we have some guys coming back who can really fill some wholes....Michael Tackett, Blake Johnson, and others. There's a Junior-to-be that I know whose really been working this off season...Josh Gourdouze. He's been working hard in the weight room. He will be a load at whichever position he ends up in.
  13. Wasn't trying to start anything. Just making an observation. I didn't know Dennis had played QB, but none the less, he looked good there. Of course I still believe the QB posistion will be JK Ratliff's.
  14. He's a county kid. He's always played here. He will be a sophomore next year.
  15. Guess this was revenge for football!
  16. I realize this is a BASEBALL forum, but has anyone seen the ShelbyValley softball pitcher? Not sure of the name, but she's awesome.
  17. Now that's comedy!
  18. First of all, I believe the county had high schools just as early, if not earlier than Paintsville(Meade, Flat Gap and Oil Springs were all High Schools). So your comment about Paintsville being original is a little out of line. Regardless of what some self-involved PHS fans think, we do not measure ourselves by you. We want our athletes to do well for themselves and no one else.
  19. I thought Dennis Dillon looked better at QB than Welch.
  20. Everyone knows how it pains us JCHS fans to brag on PHS  , but this is true. Daniel Pugh is quite an athlete.
  21. We like to try to keep the district guessing when we can.
