SKINPIG Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 The mountains is gonna have plenty of compitition in the 06 season, with all of the great teams coming back with young studs, but i want to hear what yall got to say about the best team. Who's gonna be the team to beat??? I don't know about the "Mountains" but in Region 4 District 7 the big three will be Rock, Bell & Clay with Rock leading the way.
dominator_58 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Well, in Class 2A it should be Middlesboro. They have soo much talent coming back and there is no reason there shouldn't be a district and region title in Middlesboro next season.
EagleMan4Life Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Leslie will have quiet a bit of talent returning, but they have some big shoes to fill.
dominator_58 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Leslie will have quiet a bit of talent returning, but they have some big shoes to fill. I agree, they should challange for a district title also. But youth may catch up to them in big games. But I believe if you have big name talents like Ryan Howard and Brian Hubbard on the field, anything can happen in Hyden.
gish28 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Belfry once again. They lose 3 people that see significant playing time, I see them winning the region again.
dominator_58 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Belfry once again. They lose 3 people that see significant playing time, I see them winning the region again. Seems like Belfry is in regional title talks every year. They don't rebuild, they just reload. Great players and coaching.
Belfry Wins Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Seems like Belfry is in regional title talks every year. They don't rebuild, they just reload. Great players and coaching. Yeah Belfry does reload but they return quiet a bit of talent this comming year. Belfry has alot of depth for a 2a school also that helps them. Then great coaching I mean Hawood is one of the best. 2a I look for the top 2 teams in region 4 to be Belfry and Middlesboro but I will give the edge to Belfry. Also they will have to come through Belfry for region because its our district turn to host. But never count out teams like P'burg also Sheldon Clark will be good they loose the line but Dials is a good back. What will Breathitt have will they put their name at the top again this year?
WILDMAN Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 Corbin returns a lot of young talent that has had a year to mature. Look for big years on the line from Taz, Woods, Hayden, Taylor, Nolan, Miller, Woody, and Cain. Cashen is back at QB and should have two solid targets with Rob Madon and 6'2" 185 pound sophomore Kevin French. Blake Freeman also returns as the primary ball carrier after a 1000 yard season which took him 3 or 4 games to get going. I also look for backup QB Lance Freeman to turn into a solid reciever for Cashen along with Josh Sanders who also will play some RB and FB. Josh Martin returns from an injury and if I am not mistaken Mike Campbell may be coming back out for football. He is a load and the sophomore will bring some serious power to the backfield. As for defense, Nolan, Hayden, Taylor, Mocahbee, Woody, and Woods will provide a solid rotation on the D Line. French may play anywhere from DE to OLB to DB. The Linebackers will more than likely consist of Josh Martin, Josh Sanders, Campbell (?), Blake Freeman, Anthony Miller (best suited position), and possibly French. Madon , Lance Freeman, and Joel Mitchell will more than likely be the corners with Cashen, L. Freeman, or French at Safety. Corbin should field a pretty exciting team this year and that doesn't include players who may move in or the upcoming freshmen which has some good talent.
Log Mountain Boy Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I think the 3 best teams in the Mountains next year will be Bell, Rock, and Belfry. I would love to see Belfry play Bell or Rock. I think that would make for a great matchup. All 3 play very physical smash mouth football. Bell has A LOT of talent coming up, but I understand Rock returns a lot too.
ukbellco14 Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 In 3A (period!) its gonna be Rock and Bell..... as it has been for the past 6 years! I dont see any other team from the mountain 3A area making the jump to their level next season, although in a couple years this trend may change!
Oldcat95 Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 You know Bell and Rock will compete for it again this year. These two teams just don't lose. Seriously, when was the last time they had a losing record?
MOUNTAINFOOTBALL Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 A-Pikeville and Somerset AA-Belfry and Middlesboro AAA-Bell County and Rockcastle County

That would be some intresting matchups Bell/Belfry and Rock/Belfry and the traditional smashmouth Bell/Rock game. I know for a fact that Rock returns a lot of players but lose one key position and thats QB. They say Matthew Burkharts little brother Zach will take over but then they say there looking at an upcoming freshman so i don't know for sure. One thing I do know is they will be packing a punch in the 06 season with a HUGE offensive/defensive line and lots of skill players as well. It's gonna be a good matchup again cause Bell returns A LOT of players so well just have to wait, and the wait will be worth it.
