The main purpose of a tournament is REVENUE. If the home team isn't doing as well revenue will be down. Every team that puts on a tournament tries to put their team in the best position as possible to do well in their own tournament, just look back at the old UKIT. How many times did UK ever play a quality team in that tourn.

That is why the 16th region has been so enjoyable this season, and so frustrating at the same time. And you are correct, I think MVP should go to a plaer on the winning team.

Looks like they got the selections correct for the 16th region. Owens and McCowan are the best seniors that the 16th has to offer.

Anyone can coach a team that is loaded with talent, just look at wat Tubby Smith did in his 1st season with Pitinos players. The mark of a good coach is how well he can teach the game and how well he can get the most out of his players, no matter what their skill level is. Ashland does have plenty of talent but they did not use all of that talent in order to win this season.

I think it will be Drew McDavid from Ashland. He is going to rebound from a rough District Tourn to lead the TCats to victory in the Region.

I gotta go with, gulp, Ashland to avenge their district loss to Fairview with a "W" in the region.

From all the talk going around Boyd Co, one of the parents who always causes problems and was a trouble maker afetr the district tourn loss, will be banned from all BC sporting events for 1 year. Hopefully this will send a message to other parents about acting up before they have to miss their sons senior season too.

The irony in the whole situation is that no matter how many shots he took, if he would have made a shot to win the game, he would be the greatest player you could ever talk about. And sure, a few people would mention how many shots he took, but that would be far fewer than the people praising him. And yes I do agree with you that his shot selection in the 3rd qtr was very questionable. That was a situation that I would have like to have seen Coach Pratt sit him down for a min to collect himself, then come back in and take the ball to the hole, as he did for most of the 1st half. Fairview could not stop him on the inside, but Antonio did stop himself by taking foolish jumpers.

Same thing is happening at Boyd Co also. Some parents reared their ugly heads after our loss in districts.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not picking solely on Billy, there were several members of that team with difficult attitudes to handle. It was just too much of a task for Coach Pratt to handle.

Apparently you haven't been to all the BC games and watched how things went down, or have spoken to his father about the whole situation. Everyone wants to complain about Antonio, but without him BC would have been lucky to reach the 5 win mark that they achieved the year before.

I think the principal at the school probably has more say than anyone.

Which Russell team will show up? I look for Russell to rebound from a horribly dissappointing showing in the districts and beat a good Rowan Co team. Russell-50 Rowan-44

I'm not so sure that Moore and Branham will be back. They may both decide to concentrate on baseball, or they may be back, you just never know. As for Blanton, he needs to step up his game. He did not play to his potential this season, and I have a feeling there was some jealousy on his part about not being the star player, but next season he will get the chance to redeem himself.

There is no jealousy or envy on my part because my Lions won't be in the mix. Next season will be between Rose Hill and Ashland and after that Rose Hill should be set for the next 3 years, if all their players remain at Rose Hill. But we all know how that can go.

They had better enjoy this one because it may be a while before the next one.

Unless they decide to concentrate solely on baseball, which is the sport that both are best at and more likely to receive college scholarships for :sssh:

It is easier to advance when you are playing lesser competition, and Russell wasn't very impressive in beating Raceland and mediocre in losing to Greenup again.
