It is official and he has already turned in his resignation. As for if Maynard would get the nod, I think he would stay with the system that he knows and teaches. Besides, I'm not so sure that BC will have the quality of athletes next season to run the spread offense, but that's just my opinion.

Couldn't agree more KOTJ. This team needs to realize what is in front of them and get it done. I think this weekend may have showed them that they just can't show up at the field and win just because their jersey says Boyd across the front of it. This is definitely wake up time for the Lions and hopefully they will answer the call and play as a TEAM like they are capable of doing.

I am only saying that there were some cracks in the armor revealed this weekend that I hadn't seen all year. I saw a side of the team that I had hoped I wouldn't see. As for the players being the same, you forget that they had another year of experience under their belts. Plus I think that alot of players had trouble transitioning from the Hamilton era to the Spade era. And in Spades defense, it almost impossible to replace a legend. As for this years team, they are just as loaded as last years team. What I am waiting to see from this staff is how they perform starting with next seasons team, when there is a significant drop in the talent level for the next few years. That is when I will make a full assessment IMO of their coaching capabilities. As far as grumblings from players and parents about the coaches and that baseball is no longer fun for them, no one is going to completely happy with the coaches, and if they are then they probably aren't doing their job.

I hate to knock anything about BC baseball because I absolutely love it, but they were not ready to play this weekend and there was some turmoil among players blaming each other for the outcome of the game. They need to come together and realize that they do have the team that can go all the way and have fun doing it.

This makes 5 years in a row that ashland has drawn rose hill, this is ridiculous!!! When will all of these coaches get the you know what and seed the district like it should be done. Again the 2 best teams in the district will square off and one of the two will be eliminated.

The team was loaded last season and any coaching staff would have taken last seasons team to the state tournament, much like this seasons team should. The real test for thesecoaches will be in the next few seasons when the talent pool isn't quite as full as Boyd Co is used to having.

Casey Branham pitched for Boyd, but I'm not sure who pitched for Ashland. Boyd plated 10 runs in the 1st and the rest was history after that.

You heard correct. The scary part is that he didn't pitch his best game against Eastern and still beat them. He has been throwing the ball very well of late and will only get better as the season progresses.

In a matchup of early season 16th region favorites, Boyd Co totally overwhelmed East Carter. The biggest blow came in the 4th inning when Boyd Co plated 8 runs. But give EC credit, they never quit and got the game back to 7 runs at one point in the game. Great Game Lions:dancingpa

Nice win for East. They just keep rolling along. I can't wait to see how my Lions will fare against them this Thurs. This should be a very good game and a good early test fr two of the best teams in the region.

Tyler Gatrell from Boyd Co hits low 90's on occasion, but is a consistent 87-88

I haven't been bashing Russell, but YES our season did sting that bad. So much more was expected of my Lions and it never materialized the way everyone thought it would.:cry:

Sometimes you just can't help it to score like that. You don't want your kids to stop swinging the bat, but surely with a score like that, the coach played everyone. Anyways, I've always said that it is the defenses job to keep the score down, not the offense.

I must say that even though it is VERY EARLY in the season, this game is a suprise to me. Greenup is one of the favs to win the region, while this is supposed to be another down year for Russell.

Actually it was 2001 but yes he is a very good coach. I played for him back in the 80's
