  1. Actually it was 2001 but yes he is a very good coach. I played for him back in the 80's
  2. Antonio Owens is supposed to visit Illinios this weekend.
  3. Just goes to show that is why you play the games:D I'll bet the only people on the country who had them going this far attended George Mason, and probably most alumni or students didn't even have them going that far.
  4. I don't see why everyone is down on him from this game. He only missed 2 shots the whole game, seems pretty good to me. Also in college, he won't have to be the man every night out like he was at Boyd Co, but he does have the talent to be that kind of player if he can harness his talent. Which I believe he will. People need to remember that this was only his 1st season of playing varsity basketball and it is hard to argue with the numbers he put up with so limited experience.
  5. I think the kid out there is only 15, so he would be around for more than one year. But you are correct, Russell will be the most experienced team next season, esp if they could get Clark to rejoin the team. But exp doesn't always mean the best, look what happened to Duke when they came up against a young LSU team. :ylsuper:
  6. Boyd would have to be considered the top team in the 16th. They are very deep at pitcher with Justin Moore, Tyler Gatrell, Greg Bowling, and Tyler Perkins. They have an all Sr. outfield and return the left side of their defense. The biggest key for Boyd will be at the catcher position. Brad Blanton has to stay healthy because he is all they have at that position. If he gets hurt, BC is really hurting since they have no quality backups.
  7. Look for Ashland, Rose Hill, Russell, and Elliott to probably be the class of the 16th next season.
  8. Most kids coming into college have to adjust their games, Antonio will be no different. I mean let's face it, the kid can flat out score, and there is no denying that there isn't much that he can't do on the offensive side of the ball. But in college, he will have to learn the defensive side of the ball as well. That is what seperates Rondo's game from Antonio's. And for what it is worth, Antonio is seriously considering going JUCO for next season just to improve his game. It will help him tremendously, esp since he accomplished so much this season in his 1ST season of varsity b-ball.
  9. :thumb: most definitely, esp after leading the state in scoring and being named MVP for the East at the all star game. Owens is a very tough matchup for anyone guarding him, and KY will need players like that because Indiana is flat out good this year.
  10. around 6'1"-6'2" and can play the 1 or 2. great leaping ability, can touch the top of the square.
  11. That is a possibility along with UMASS and Illinois, to name a few. He led the state in scoring at 30 per game, also avg 8 reb and 4 asst per game.
  12. He is a Senior and is still undecided on a college, but does have some attractive offers.
  13. :thumb: Got to agree with you there Tiny. I was happy for him to show what he can do at a big game like the East/West All Star game.
  14. Congrats Antonio, way to make the 16th Region PROUD!!!!!!
  15. I only counted 6 games against the top, but I haven't seen Florida schedule yet. It still will help Boyd out playing a high level of competition.
  16. He hasn't decided on a college yet, but he does have some attractive offers
  17. Post 76 in Ashland run by Paul Lewis generally plays very well and also plays a competetive schedule.
  18. Even though I am happy with Boyd Co being in the top 10, there are other schools that play baseball this side of Lexington.
  19. I am pretty sure that there is more to it than that, but that is part of it. he is a big family man and wants to spend more time with them. But after the way some parents treated him, I wouldn't lame him if he wanted to leave. It isn't worth it to put up with jerks like that.
  20. Just regional, the KABC votes for one from each region.
  21. This is embarassing for both Russell and the 16th region. I am sure the rest of the state is laughing at us if this is the best we could send to the tournament.
  22. This post just goes to show the ignorance of people about boys from the ramey home. They don't volunteer to go there, they are sent by the court system. And there is no judge in the state who would send a kid there just because they can play basketball. Let's just face it, the majority of these kids are inner city kids who have played b-ball all their lives and are just better athletes. And even though they have got in trouble, they are just kids and deserve a second chance. Besides that, they have to complete they Ramey program and be approved by the court system to even go to public schools. And trust me, there are none of these kids that volunteer to go to Ramey and go through what they go through just to play B-ball at BC.
  23. He had already been invited for that as well as the KY/OHIO all star team and the East vs West all star game. Very good season for Antonio. Congratulations on each and every award you recieve. It was a pleasure watching you play this season and good luck in the future wherever you decide to play college ball at.
