If Greenup isn't the favorite in the 63rd then who is? I don't think there will be that good of teams in the 16th this year. But at the top of the list would probably be Boyd, Greenup, East Carter, and Ashland. Greenup returns a good nucleus of players off last years team and has maybe the best coach in the 16th region, so I look for them to have a pretty good team this season.

I'm not so sure about taking the pressure off. From what I've seen so far this season, most all of the tournament games should be pressure packed because of the parity in the 16th region. But yes, Boyd right now should be ranked as #2 behind Morgan right now, but they are fully capable of beating them, esp the way they are playing now as a team.

Apparently someone hasn't read many of your posts AT41. If anything, you've probably been more outspoken in your support of Ashland than any other posters on here, maybe to the point of craziness. But you stick behind them through thick and thin. There are way too many people who are "bandwaggoners" and I can't stand them. It is a pleasure posting with you and getting your thoughts on things. Well, I know her brother, and his uncles brothers cousins grandfathers best friend said that Russell just flat out got outplayed in all facets of the game. But this game may have been just a fluke or maybe it will serve as an eye opener for Russell that they just can't show up and win.

Greenup is for real. They have played Boyd tough twice, even though they lost both, and beating Russell may just give them the confidence they need to carry them to regionals.

If that is tue, apparently they have taken over for Boyd as "Team Turmoil"

The way this distrct is shaping up, noone can plan a trip to Morehead right now.

Cantrell must have orgotten to change his calendar, he obviously must be looking at last year. i thought part of being a reporter was doing research. Way to do your job Cantrell.

That is a tough thing for a coach to swallow when your team gets outhustled. you can accept getting beat if you put forth the effort. I wouldn't expect that kind of an effort from the "Dodd Squad"

Tough to bash him the way he is playing lately. Only complaint from other teams must be that he is making too many shots. Shame on Antonio, he should know better :laugh:

Mybe Flynn should bench himself???? Apparently it didn't help benching the players.

Thats why the Districts and Regional tournament should be awesome this year. makes it fun for a basketball fan and drives coaches nuts.

If Ashland keeps this pace up, it may be Rose Hill jumping for joy that they drew Ashland for Districts, instead of the other way around.

If they were at full strength then that is a big win for Greenup. Congrats to GC sounds like they too figured out that you have to play Vanhoose physical.

Big problems must exist for Ashland. They have too much talent to be losing like this. I'm guessing the game that they beat Boyd Co looks to be a fluke. They have produced no offense since that game, which should have been a momentum building game.

Did Vanhoose play in this one?

Great game for Boyd Co. Led again by Antonio Owens with 30 points. The game was never close as Boyd kept nailing 3 pointers while East Carter stayed in a zone. BC played well again as a team with Branham & Shannon hitting some big 3's as well. East was just totally overmatched tonight and were never really in the game.

Russell by 6, especially if there is no Vanhoose tonight someon will have to step up their game. look for Blair to have a big night.

This is a real shocker for me. I thought Fairview would make some noise in the tournament.

Exactly, he was taking terrible shots those games, but last night he played within the flow of the offense and shot 13-21 while scoring 35. Hopefully he realizes this is the way to play and after talking to him after the game, I believe he does. That could really spell trouble for other teams if the whole team meshes.

I would say GRC should win this one unless ashland kind find the team that beat Boyd Co and put them on the court for this one. Unless the BC game was just a fluke, which I would really like to not believe is the case.

Last I saw listed in the paper for area leaders, he was somewhere around 45%. That may sound high to some people, but you ave to take into account the number of layups that he shoots in a game. They definitely help his shooting % alot since he takes it to the rim quite a bit.

I wouldn't exactly call that a bad game, although that is 7 below his scoring average. Plus he didn't play much of the 2nd half because of foul trouble.
