Sometimes you just can't help it to score like that. You don't want your kids to stop swinging the bat, but surely with a score like that, the coach played everyone. Anyways, I've always said that it is the defenses job to keep the score down, not the offense.

Shame on Belfry? Come on Mankind, tell the whole story.

It was a 5 inning game and that score couldn't be avoided short of having kids strike out on purpose. It was a situation where Burch was without several starters for various reasons and Belfry played everyone on the bench by the 3rd inning and made a JV game out of it. I think the starting pitcher pitched 2 innings. Nothing seemed to slow down the hurt.

From everyone I talked to, this was the worst high school team they had ever seen. They had trouble fielding ground balls, making throws, etc. Very very sad.

I'm sure they were bad, but 33 runs...Come on Watusi you know that's awful...No excuse at all for that...

What do you suggest? Strike out on purpose?

No, but I give up...I'm sorry for thinking that 33 runs in 5 Innings is a shame...Teams do it all the time, right?

I'll tell you all what..I'll give Belfry the benefit of the doubt, and assume that Burch is the worst baseball team in the history of high school baseball...Hope you're proud though when you put this on the khsaa.org record book just like the 31 runs vs. Feds Creek in 2000...

Cards Dismiss Colonels 20-3

Six Cardinals enjoy multi-hit afternoons in Tuesday route.

RICHMOND, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball team exploded for 20 runs at Turkey Hughes Field Tuesday afternoon on their way to a 20-3 whitewashing of Eastern Kentucky. The game marked the first time the Cards have scored 20 or more runs since they walloped Wright State 24-5 on March 5, 1999.

Coach Hagy is a first class gentlemen and very good coach. No coach never tells his players to make outs and I wouldn't expect the players to want to.

From what I was informed, Birch was very short-handed and they struggled in various aspects of the game. Don't fault the Pirates for hitting the ball and advancing base-to-base.

Belfry also has a very good young group of talent and I'm assuming they played considerable time.

If they were advancing 1 base at a time, I dont have a problem with the score. Now if they were stealing bases and taking extra bases, I think it is a shame. I know Coach Lawson only will let a guy get a single out of a triple when they are up 10 runs. You gotta respect that. It is also respect for the other players and coaches.
