Vanhoose's talent is not due to any natural ability.(Trust me on this one. I've played many times with his Dad, which I believe Bammer or Frances can still take.) His talent and abilities have come from his work ethic. I have seen him mature and work daily at practice for three years. Even with Robbie giving him advice, he has developed into one of the best players to ever play in our region.

 

The best part of it is, he is only a junior.

I voted for Owens because you said to be honest but my heart wanted me to vote for Drew McDavid IMO is the #2 player in the 16th!

Remember best player does not mean best scorer.

Tonights performance is exactly why Owens is not the "player" of the year, he is the "athlete" of the year, but it is his first year of varsity basketball and he has not learned how to play the game. Vanhoose knows how to involve his teammates and hit the open man. I'm afraid Owens will not get any votes from his teammates. Owens needs to go someplace where he can learn and grow. I wish him the best, but no one is good enough to win a region title by themselves. Who selects this player anyhow? Do you have to be a Senior?

I couldn't have said that better myself. Owens basically LOST the game for his team against Fairview. He was double and triple teamed all night and he still forced up shots instead of finding the open man.

So lets talk about Vanhoose's performance last night now, if you want to judge on a night after night basis..... :thumb:

Vanhoose should have had 24 pts by himself, moreless the whole team.....

 

Owens is selfish, no doubt about it, but he is still the real deal. :thumb:

Bottom line is Vanhoose probably has better fundamentals, but Owens athletic ability exceeds some of his weeknesses.

It is easier to advance when you are playing lesser competition, and Russell wasn't very impressive in beating Raceland and mediocre in losing to Greenup again.

Uh yeah, that is impressive....24 pts against Greenup....So, Ok you are going to make it one more game than us...thats impressive...:laugh:
