scorekeeper Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I saw on another thread where the Raceland Derby tourney next season was set. Just curious if anyone knows when the teams for next season's AIT will be announced. I would really love it if Elliott Co. was invited.
LRCW Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I think that Elliott Co. should be invited. They will be one of, if not the best team in the Region next year. They would be a good draw for the AIT.
Frances Bavier Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 I would like to see Elliott in it also, but I believe that the invitations have already been extended. I could very well be wrong about this, but I was of the opinion that scheduling teams for a tournament like this is usually done around the time of the tournament itself. Again, I could be wrong, but I think that's how it works. Frances
WVA Boy Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 If they are invited they will probably be in the opposite bracket with the other 2 or 3 tough teams that got invited!!! :sssh:
scorekeeper Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Why not? THey have been involved in the tourney in the past... Ashland likes to have strong local talent as well.
MBWC41 Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 They wont be invited. They should be pre-season 2 if not 1. Ashland wont invite them. You know that as well as i do. Sorry to tell ya. They had West Carter this year; how is that a a local "strong" team?

Cubster Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 West beat Bryan STation in that tourney and who beat Morgan in tourney?
scorekeeper Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Let's see..um....Ashland didn't invite Bath or Meniffee last season. If they wanted weak talent...then those were the schools to invite. Don't get me wrong...I always root for whoever is playing against Ashland...they stack the tourney...that's obvious. They tourney has lost its prestige...Was once the premiere holiday tourney...now it's a laugh. HOWEVER--they still have a decent little get together with some strong local talent~and some moderate state talent. (there is a difference between strong local and moderate state talent too).

You are right there is some strong talent in the AIT and its generally in the opposite bracket from Ashland!
LRCW Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 You are right there is some strong talent in the AIT and its generally in the opposite bracket from Ashland! I do believe this is the way that the majority of host schools set up their tournaments.
WVA Boy Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Not The Derby Classic!!! :sssh: Does anyone remember about 5 years ago when they had a late scratch and allowed Fairview to come and play them in the 1st round of the AIT????
TomcatChick41 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 They also had Russell, who was the 16th Region Pre-season favorite. Exactly!! The way Ashland sets up their tourney is no different than the way any other school sets up theirs.
