  1. Very good running back, but not great. Last night he did not break any tackles to advance to gain big yardage against a very good defenseive scheme. Great backs do this. I have seen this from Elliott and Vocke locally. Jude is a top ten back in the state this year but IMO not the best. Have not seen Dawkins and Elliott is hurt. Have seen Vocke and would give him the nod based on his burst of speed at the line. He hits the hole and then turns it on.
  2. Setting HHS, NCC and BHS aside this year, NKY is down by normal standards. IMO Conner, Holmes, Newport and Dayton are down quite a bit from last few years. Ryle down due to significant injuries. A couple other teams as well. On the flip side of this are teams that are solid that in years past have been down. Cooper is a good example. Holy Cross has one of the highest scoring 2A teams in the state and played a strong schedule. Boone has improved nicely having figured out that passing the ball works for them. CCH has returned to the scene that will be in the hunt to the end. Even the Camels have turned it around. Which of these teams may challenge in their respective classes remains to be answered.
  3. Rockmom and Old Rambler said it best. Don't have an issue with the player at all, he earned it. JJ Jude is a great runner and did as instructed.
  4. "Hold on a minute". As a famous ESPN guy likes to say, " now hold on a minute folks, thats why they play the game". I really think the boys from Park Hills are better. But not seeing the Tomcats this year and looking at scores and stats they do look closer than some believe. Just using Harrison, the blue boys only put up 6 more points to win. I think a fair question is to ask a fan from Harrison Cty to compare or one who has seen both play in person. I predict CCH by 14.
  5. Game called at 8:40 in the 3rd due to stadium lights only going out. Refs were about to assess 2 15 yd PF penalties against Holmes after another turnover by the Bulldogs.
  6. Hope for a speedy recover for the big fella Henderson. What a shame.
  7. I thought I was the holder on the PAT team
  8. Fact is both schools are very close to each other, natural rivalry already exists. Both schools once played in the same classification and were very competitive. NC,prior to merger, and NCC has always been a smaller school. If they can play Ryle and SK, both 6A schools, CovCath, 4A and McNick in Cincy then your size argument is lost. This game ended during a down period at NCC and a few too many flare ups with Schneider and Duffy and then Dale. I think Eviston will bring this one back in a year or two, hopefully.
  9. WOW, late on Thursday and only 85 posts on this game.
  10. Had turf, but looks like they put some new BROWN rubber pellets down for the occasion. Looks like todays rain has started to get them to settle into the turf nicely. Nicely done Flotsam. Go BIRDS.
  11. Move to a statewide 4/5 class system and have T and X on their own in a 5th/6th. The KHSAA wins with the fans and gets the big gate of an T/X game yearly. Posing another question for all the ROCKS fans. Why isn't T just as dominate in all sports across the board on a yearly basis. I know X is dominate in golf and swimming, what other areas does T dominate in?? And I am referring to powerhouse statis, not an occasional good team. Holmes, Mason Cty and LexCath seem to be perinial football and basketball powers yearly.
  12. RM there is no clear answer with this. Many have pointed to the primary reasons for this as NKY is spread to thin. That being said, take to point that T/X can get the best of the best from the entire county, You throw in great tradition, education and coaching and kind of frrds itself. NKy schools may get a kid or two from different areas, but not to the extent that T/X do year in and year out. With this thought, you cannot do this in NKy. You have 3 counties, and one third or less the population as a whole. If Boone could get the best of the best in NKy as a whole, they may compete with you and X, but they can't. Additionally, although Highlands is the team they are is because of education, coaching and talent, their numbers are tiny to pull from vs. Louisville. Another factor that can be mentioned are the feeder programs or junior leagues. My guess is that T/X have a long standing feeder program and great support. NKY again has multiple programs and they feed many different schools. This again, dilutes the strenghth of NKy. This is changing as many schools have developed their own programs to build for their own future. CCH is a good example, their numbers have grown yearly in their own junior program running their system and they are starting to reep the rewards. Formerly, they got kids from 4 or 5 differently run programs. Ft. Thomas has had this for 50 plus years. But in a nutshell, the size of the pool that T/X get to generate their support cannot be matched currently in NKy and for this matter, the way it is set up. WOW, starting to post like LN.:thumb:
  13. Sad news. Good luck with your surgery and the recovery.Keep your head up and get healthy. WKU is getting a fine young man.
  14. Great win for the Birds. Game was definitely won in the trenches and the conditioning factor of the Birds. A few dropped balls that could have been caught by both. Disagree that Pike only has Cohurn to throw to. Pitzer looked good, 3/4 catches, and took a wicked shot by Rouse and #16 had a nice catch in traffic as well. Dixie needs to learn how to block and stay with their blocks longer. Pike bashers relax, he had no time. Auburn took him for his athletic ability and potential. Concern for the run defense by the Birds, but may have been due to the SCHEME they had for Pike. He got very little and the runs that worked were quick slants against the 3 man defense. LBs need to fill gaps quicker on reads, and not think pass so quickly. All in all a good game and misstakes will be corrected. Now get ready for Western.
  15. It is listed on 930 which is the HD channel in NKY
  16. Birds big and I hope if Dale calls em off the backups don't have the let down like a few years back and he had to put the starters back in. Go Birds
  17. BB hang in their. It takes some time for new systems to fully develop. With 80 kids I hope he is playing alot of kids and trying different things. As they develop it will get better and you can usually see in a few weeks. Take heart, as in KY you only need your district games for the playoffs and with 6 classes, this is not to much to worry about.
  18. Congrats Rocks on a great win. Prayers go out for a speedy recovery to the Stein young man. Don't know if Elder still has the bi receiver from last year, but Elder being Elder has one or two every year at that height. They looked pretty decent on tv sports clip last night. take with a grain of salt as sportsclips usually look good. Good job on your win.
  19. Do not overlook the Indians defense. They had a couple of blocked punts and interceptions in this game early. Scored three or four off defense and special teams alone. Set the offense up in great shape the entire first half. Indians win.
  20. I bet "UK fan" can't wait until SK beats Highlands. Ooooooooooh, thats right, they won't play them. LOL
