  1. Great game Birds from a worthy opponent. LCC has nothing to be ashamed of from this game. They gaqve it all on each play and were just up against a team hitting on all cylindrs tonight. LCC has a good program and keep at it, we'll see you again and soon. #14 good player and next year may be a great one. Keep the focus and work hard now for next season. Congrats on a very good season. Birds rest up and get ready for the next game. Remember its one at a time. Keep the machine rolling. Go BIRDS.
  2. Hapy Thanksgiving to all. Go BIRDS. To all the folks from Letcher County I hope you have a safe trip up and back and look forward to seeing your fine team. Enjoy the experience.
  3. Reality, make note that he said HOPING to break a long one. Trust me in that DMZ knows the speed factor and he being a former defensive back understands that you need to get separation first to get a big gainer against the Birds. So I believe he is saying that getting in between the coverage will give them a chance. Go Birds
  4. WOW Congrats to the Tigers on a big win. Trinity has a mental hurdle to overcome with the hex from the X. Both Ohio and KY got them.
  5. Henry521 Last week you were "DearAbbey" and aka "Dr Tail Gator". This week she becomes "Ira Jane the weather gal". WOW is anything you can't do. You go girl. Go BIRDS
  6. Doesn't matter if you are up 3 or 30 points, if the other team is showing a weakness, you exploit it. Dixie's line was peeling back on kicks and the Birds took advantage of it as well. I do not always agree with the timing, but you got to play each down fully or you are cheating your own team out. That being said I think Dale will have the boys pumped up and focused. Birds roll by 3-4 TD's. Henry, (Dear Abbey / Tail Gator ) let us Kenton Countians in on the secret meeting spot. Go BIRDS
  7. Don't have stats on Dixie, but only big play they had should have been an INT if the DB times his jump better. Good play by 80 to keep eye on it and haul it in. 21 had 2/3 nice carries, but for most of the night was held in check.Birds got a couple of nice TO's, but left a couple get through their hands as well. Birds backs probably ran for 300 yards on the night.
  8. Sandman, gotta agree with you on Dixie making a play. Did not see it tonight on either side of the ball. Could have been tied at half, but a missed op on offense and a big let down on defense and you go to locker room down 10. BIRDS OL dominated most of the night. HUGE holes and great running by the backs once they got downfield. Defense was great. Caused problems all night. Bathiany's 48 yd FG was a thing of beauty. Downside was about a 100 yards in penalties. Dixie, I like the new field. Hate the visitors seating. Can they make it any lower. Could barely see the action. Good job and lets get the next one. Go BIRDS.
  9. SM welcome back from the war, hope you kept your head down,:thumb: No just kidding. It is great to have it back in the same district. Too bad old Dave B isn't on the sidelines also. For Red Heat a song comes to mind, I think something like "and all the bells were ringing The night we drove Ol DIXIE down.:walk: :walk: :dancingpa
  10. Birds by 14 HHS can play with anyone with there defense. Dixie will need to hit on all cylinders and then some just to control the game tempo. IMO. But the Birds will not let that happen and should win a well played game by both teams. Remember what an old coach says often on Saturdays -- "Turnovers my friend, turnovers will be a factor I can tell you that" Go BIRDS
  11. Watched the HHS and HC game on Friday. Holmes has a couple of real nice players, Miller is the key to the whole thing. if he is on he can create things. No doubt he is the leader. Other key people are number 1 and 3, both backs or wideouts and have the speed and ability to go the distance. OL is not bad and the block fairly well. Not a lot of flash to the OL they just block straight ahead and let thye backs find the hole. They do pull on the outside runs, but as HC Coach stated after the game it was alot like a rugby scrum and Miller would pop out of the pack for a big gain. HC did a lot to help with poor tackling and arm tackling. Just hit the kids and take them off there feet and they will not get the extra yards. Not much of a passing game shown, but did not need it. Defense was decent and better coached than past Holmes teams. Much more disciplined in staying at home and clogging the holes against HC. Kicking game got torched twice by HC in the second half. Highlands can do the same. Overall, a much better disciplined team than I ever remember from the Dawgs and told Steve yesterday at our game. These kids will show up. Granted that the Birds are going to bring way more that HC. The Birds backs could have a big day with good blocking and the passing game can be effective. I saw a couple of times in the HC game that if they connected on the passes they could have gone big. HC did not have the talent this year and Holmes is much improved over previous years and that is a tribute to Steve Lickert and his staff. Birds win this one but cannot get caught looking ahead or still buzzing over the TW win. Birds 35-13
  12. Great win for the BIRDS. Beat a team with a ton of talent tonight. Defense played with great passion. Bent but did not break in the end. Some of the younder guys really stepped up tonight and impressed, especially 22 and 19 bigtime. Offense was spectacular at times and nice call on the TD pass. Was there earlier to 22 and we underthrew it. OL created huge holes and the backs just blew through them. IMO the TO's kept TW in the game and a lesser team may have folded but the BIRDS held though and rose to the occasion. TW has a very good team and can go far in DII if they improve on defense. Studs o offense were impressive. BIRDS keep the focus going to the altimate goal in Dec and you will be rewarded.
  13. Whooooooooa Nelleeeeee! Now thats what I call bulletin board material. Gotta like his loyalty.
  14. I agree with DMZ on not there on every play. It is early and he might not be in 100% condition yet. Nice ball player. Would like to see him at middle LB where he could cover the whole field. His size and speed remind me alot of Marty Moore. On offense I think LN had a great point in the use of his ability to improve the playmaking. He could definately create havoc 10-15 yds down field on passes and QB might not overthrow to this big fella. He's good and should be used as much as possible.
  15. Lets not put the cart before the horse with this team yet. This team has the potential to be special. IMO on the defensive side, they are not better than the 2004 yet, but time will tell. Offense can score a lot of points, but still need to improve on the line overall. I saw a lot of nice blocks against Male and saw quite a few missed. I did not see the Beechwood game and Male has some good kids, but not what they have had in the past.Trust me, the Birds had a few to many misstakes Friday for greatness to be labeled as the best ever. Still need to improve in the passing game and on special teams. As they get more experienced they could be awesome. I think they are the class of NKy and will show this on Friday.
  16. Congrats to the Rocks on a great season and the State crown.
  17. Congrats to the Breds on winning state. Wow what a comeback, good job.
  18. :ylsuper: :scared: That cannon has made an appearance in Park Hills before.
  19. Next year with the new systen 87% of the teams in KY make the playoffs. Think about the other 13%.
  20. Kremer was over 200 yards and Connor had around 195. Cecil ran for another 90. Running game was clicking. Turnovers helped to make it closer game in the first half. Two fumbles and an interception in the first half. SO played hard and Gordon got some yards on a couple of nice carries, but for most of the night the Birds defense was all over them in the backfield. I would guess at least 10 plays for lost yardage on runs. Two of the TD's SO had were long ones. The first a screen in the middle of the field that #40 got and made a nice move to get down field. The second was when the QB was scrambling, again, for his life and reversed field and came across and saw Gordon on the sideline and led him perfectly. Overall the Birds started out ugly with the two turnovers on the first two drives, but settled down and took control. Get rested and healthy and be 100 % ready for the Blue Colonels, Go Birds!
