The last time these two schools played each other was for a state championship in 1996. Highlands was down 14-7 at half and came back and won 21-14 for the 12th state championship. How will this one end up?

Interesting cross state showdown. Some risk for Bluebirds of a post CovCath game emotional let down but I think Dale keeps them focused for a strong win. Very hard for any team to make the 4 or 5 hour bus ride and compete against a team of Highland's caliber on their home field and just looking at Hopkinville's record and scores so far this year it does not appear to be one of the better Hopkinsville years thus far but perhaps the folks from the west who have seen them play might chime in with respect to any injuries, youth or other things that may have factored into their season thus far and a little more about what their strengths are this year. I expect to hear the canon booming and the Hoptown boys to still be hearing that ringing in their ears on a very long bus ride home. Hopefully, other than a tough game the Ft. Thomas folks show them good hospitality on their trip.:thumb:

Highlands 35

Hoptown 14

Highlands has had two very important district games the past two weeks (Dixie and CovCath)... having taken care of district business I wouldn't be surprised if HHS comes out a little flat in this non-district game. I predict that HHS wins by 2-3 TDs, but the game will be tight for 2-3 quarters.

 

HOWEVER, after this game I predict the 'Birds get their second-wind and blow through the rest of the regular-season competition!!!!

 

AND, I think it's great that these two programs made the arrangements to play each other!

We'll take the learning experience and live to fight another day. Hopkinsville is coming off their best game where they beat crosstown rival Christian Co. in a game not as close as the final score. But Highlands is a tripple notch above anybody the Tigers have played this year. Maybe not as athletic up front as Henry Co., Tennessee was but probably more sound.

 

It's a monumental challenge for Hopkinsville but when all is said and done Highlands is better than the Tigers in all phaises of the game.

I wouldn't count your team out before they even play. I think it'll turn out to be a really good game.

Saw the forecast and it will be in the upper 70's. Looks to be a great day all around.
