  1. Did Walton get caught reading articles about how good they are? I am a little surprised at this score but congratulations to GC. Very good win and more than likely #1 seed in playoffs with a first round home game and possible match up with Newport or Holy Cross.
  2. Breds are healthy and ready to get back to playing. Perfect time for the bye week. Breds 40-13
  3. Let's give Lloyds defense some credit here. It was 3-0 at half. Lloyd had stopped NCC on 4th and 1 in the red zone twice to keep the score 3-0. Second half NCC looked to open it up and threw the ball short (finally). They moved the ball very well and also had a punt return called back on a horrendous call by the officials. If NCC punches it in twice and gets the punt return thats 21 more points and people are talking about a 40-7 win and what a run they are going to make. I liked the offense 100x better the second half but would love to see Jack Sutkamp get more touches between the tackles. Jacob Smith is better running outside. The passing game was much more efficient the second half, Mac Franzen looked more relaxed and confident. Made two really nice passes on his TD throws to Nate Enslen and Tommy Donnelly. Seems like NCC has people wide open every play, just need to give Mac time to find them. Still too many stupid penalties, false starts, defense jumping on 3rd down, 2 extra points blocked by Lloyd defenders. Bye week this week for the Breds! Get healthier and improve in all phases.
  4. For the Breds there is no more 6A/5A vs. 2A talk. They play a tough out of district schedule to get ready for district play and playoff time. It's time to put up or shut up. Tonight is the biggest game of the year and I fully expect them to come out and show that they are still the team to beat in the district & 2A state. Motto this year is Tradition does not graduate, prove it tonight with a huge win over Lloyd and start the run to Bowling Green. GO BREDS
  5. Right now I would rank Newcath first in the district and Lloyd 2nd. That being said, NewCath has to be healthy next week and quit listening to the talk of their tough schedule and Lloyds weak schedule. NewCath is a very ticked off team right now and when healthy they are going to do some damage. Lloyd is a good team, Newcath cannot go through the motions and beat them. Moliter kid is a nice QB and has some weapons to throw too. I say the Breds win the game but they better out work and out play Lloyd because it wont come easy to them. Breds 35-22
  6. #5 is Jack Sutkamp. He is an absolute monster on defense. Averaging 16 tackles a game going into last nights contest. Nice post NKUCB19. :thumb: Lawnboy Jack had a bunch last night as well.
  7. Let me start by saying Dixie is very experienced and very good. All weapons in place. A healthy NCC team and it would have been a heck of a game to watch. No secret that NCC had a sophomore line in the game last night. They got manhandled by the bigger Colonels. No excuses from NCC but they had quite a few players on the sidelines, that being said you have to commend the younger guys for battling to the end. NCC fumbled on their own 1 yard line, threw an INT for a TD and Coach Brossart let his #1 offense in the game the last drive against NCC JV. 21pts given to them. 14-7 at half, very easily could have been 7-0 Breds at half. I commend the Breds coaching staff for playing the "big boys" year in and year out as it will only make them better. Hard to compete with numbers and when you are a small 2A school with 8-9 players on the sidelines it makes it even harder. SK and Dixie are the only teams that really handled the Breds easy. Cooper and Campbell Co were both very winnable games. Good luck to Dixie the rest of the year but I hope your coaches show more class than they did Friday. When the opposition puts their JV team in down 28-7 with 8 minutes to play I think its ok to put your JV in as well, they have pretty much conceeded the game is over. BAD MOVE BY COACHING STAFF but I guess its the first win for this senior class over the Breds so it felt good to get that last TD. Breds players and fans need to stay positive. New season starts next week Lloyd at home. Big district game and it sounds like they will be nice and healthy for that one. TOO SUCCEED YOU MUST BELIEVE.......AND WE BELIEVE!
  8. Hey KyJoe who cares if they have as many cheerleaders as NCC players! That's what happens when you have 5x as many students.
  9. Newcath needs to change some things on offense. SK knew exactly where the ball was going on every play. Why would NCC change anything in their offense from what Coach Eviston was doing? This offense is the same stagnant offense they had 5 years ago. NCC defense needs to be commended for a job well done. Sounds stupid when you give up 30 pts but they really did flush Kuntz out of the pocket on numerous occasions and played the run good. Kuntz is a really good player and avoided a ton of sacks and tackles. Give SK credit, they are well coached and a force in 6A. NCC players are gaining valuable minutes right now. Alot of underclassman forced to play due to injuries. Obviously not having Wieland, Lenz and Brooks hurts on both offense and defensive lines. In all honesty at full strength we dont beat SK. Breds just need to stay positive and realize the bigger goal ahead of them. But Lord God they need to change some things on offense. Shout out to Jacob Smith, Jack Sutkamp, Brandon Gray, Kobe Tallon & Nate Enslen who played really well for the Breds. Get healthy boys, it's about that time we make our run to Bowling Green. WE BELIEVE!!!!
  10. After the first 3 weeks of the season Jack Sutkamp from NCC would have to fit in here at LB. Kid is averaging about 20 tackles a game.
  11. Nicely put Miller. Your post is right on target.
  12. BREDS frosh will be fine. Have some stud football players on sideline right now. With the low number of players to begin season they toned down the schedule a little bit. Coaches do a great job getting all the kids on the field.
  13. Heard Mac Franzen looked very good again.
  14. Congratulations to Jeremy and the Cooper baseball program. Excellent coach & even better person. Good hire!
  15. Here is the schedule for tonight (weather permitting and it doesn't look good for Friday) SK vs. Conner 5pm @ Cordero Field, winner plays St. Henry 7:30pm @ St. Henry Lloyd @ Dixie 5pm Grant Co @ Ryle 5:30pm Boone Co @ Cooper 5pm Scott @ Beechwood 4:30pm, winner plays Holy Cross @ Meinken 7:30pm Campbell Co @ Brossart (Pendery) 7pm Highlands @ CovCath 5pm Holmes vs. NCC 7pm @ Dixie
  16. Article from Kypost: Senior left fielder Connor Bartels drove in three runs, including two in a six-run fourth inning, as Newport Central Catholic edged Covington Catholic, 9-7 on Tuesday. Bartels lifted a sacrifice fly, scoring a run in the third inning that tied the score at two. But the Thoroughbreds broke the game open in the fourth, due partly to Bartels’ two-RBI single. Senior center fielder Josh Cain also plated a run with a base hit in that frame. Cain added a run-scoring seventh-inning base hit to close out the scoring. NewCath senior right-hander Colin DuPont tossed two scoreless inning to earn his first save of the season. NEWCATH 011-600-1—9 10 2 at COVCATH 201-040-0—7 12 3 WP: Gray (1-0). LP: Heppler. SV: DuPont (1). HITTING LEADERS: NCC—D. Pangallo 2-4; Cain 2-5, 2 RBI; Bartels 3 RBI; Hoffstedder 2-3. CC—Schreiver 2-4; Heppler 3-4; Bailey 2-3, 2B; Ward 4-4. RECORDS: NewCath 14-10, CovCath 16-9. Read more: 4/30 BASE: NCC big inning dooms CovCath
  17. Josh Cain gets the win, Connor Bartels the save. Breds led 4-0 in 7th. Errors almost allowed Brossart to come back. Thankfully the last ball was hit to zack Pangallo to end the atrocious 7th inning. Breds move on to Lexington for the All A elite 8.
  18. Senior Alex Grau (Shawnee state signee) was also 3-4 with 3 RBI. Junior jake Pangallo 2-4 with a double. Zack Pangallo continues to lead the Breds attack. Michael Bueter pitched well and got the win. Big week for the Breds coming up. All A sectional game against Brossart on Monday, district seeding game against Highlands on Thursday. Good luck Breds!
  19. Tough draw for the Breds. Would possibly have to beat Holmes, Cooper & CovCath. The winner of the Dixie vs Newport game is a sleeper. Newport very athletic and Dixie has Brandon Hatton
  20. Kidzfirst This whole relatives/coaches discussion is absurd. Relatives that coach in grades 9-12 has nothing to do with kids who play or dont play at the JV or Varsity levels. Kids at NCC earn their playing time from practices and attitudes. There are a couple of players this year who transferred or havent played as much as "they or their parents" think they should. Parents only hear one side of the story and most of the time dont know 85% of the real story. Everyone hopes to see Jason back in a uniform somewhere. NCC thrives on discipline players who know the system and play good solid defense. Every school isnt a good fit for everyone and this situation was proof of that. To assume that kids play because of their parents involvement is stupid. So i guess what you are saying is Zack Pangallo starts point guard as a sophomore because his Uncle Jimmy is on the staff. That's funny! This thread falls into the old saying, "You get what you deserve". Kids who have good attitudes and work hard get rewarded. No player in NCC's program works harder than Seth Freppon and thankfully he was given the opportunity to move up to varsity because he damn sure deserved it.
  21. Horribly officiated game. Doesnt surprise me at all when you have Wing and Shields. 40 something fouls called in the game. Crazy!
  22. Lawnboy lets not forget how good the Pangallo kid played after the first quarter. He hit some big shots and had quite a few assists the next 3 quarters and had a very good defensive game on Brossarts guards. The technical foul call was just flat out a horrible call. No normal average referee is going to call a T on that. Total Joke because the explaination the coaching staff received was that he got the T for kicking the ball, which absolutely did not happen. Breds played great team defense and rebounded the ball very well. Breds had 8 turnovers after the first quarter and then settled down with only 2 the 2nd quarter and not many the 2nd half either. Breds are really good and now a few days off before they prepare for next Fridays showdown in Covington against Holmes.
  23. At NCC there are always 3 goals at the start of the year. 1. Winning the 9th Region All A Regional 2. Winning an All A state championship 3. Refocusing and winning the 9th Region title and heading to Rupp. That is exactly what the players were discussing on their way home from Frankfort on the bus. 9th region runner ups the last 2 years hasnt sat well with this senior class. They want it bad.
  24. Ok, I will tell my son he did not play St. Agnes this week.
