  1. I agree with Walter, Zack Pangallo improves every game I see him play. He is running the show very well, making good decisions and is shooting the ball extremely well off the dribble. Another key to the NCC success is the play of Brennan Devoto and Collin Dupont. Both are getting more minutes in the absence of Nick Seibert. Both seem to know their role and have stepped up on both ends of the floor. Drew McDonald has been sensational lately and Jake Schulte has been pretty consistent. Seems that Bueter is getting his stroke back, Breds just need him and Pangallo to stay out of foul trouble. Congratulations to St. Henry and Coach Dave Faust. The Cru has gotten a ton better from the beginning of the year and when it comes time for the regional draw there isnt anyone who will want to play St. Henry. Good Luck to the Breds against Newport in the championship game. I'm sure it will be an intense hard fought game against a very athletic Newport squad.
  2. Hopefully Mr. Rolf is smart enough to have a great crew for this titanic struggle. I am hearing Chappie is doing the game. Not sure about the other two. Tough task for the Breds but I think they pull it out in the end 61-58. Should be a great crowd, NCC student section will have the hill rockin.
  3. Congratulations to the Breds players and coaching staff. Sounds like a great team effort the whole tournament. Special congratulations to Michael Bueter MVP, Zack Pangallo, Jake Schulte and Drew McDonald on their all tournament selections. 11-0 with a tough stretch of games coming up.
  4. Russell beat West Jessamine on a last second shot after a bad call by referee. These refs in the AIT are just awful. Impossible to call a timeout without possession of the ball. NCC will play Russell tomorrow night in the semifinals.
  5. I agree Clyde. People need to realize that teams are sagging in on the Breds and making them beat them from the outside. As Lloyd did last night. Bueter, Pangallo, Seibert and company are going to have to shoot these teams out of their sagging man to man or zone defenses. Nice to have a team that can beat you from the inside and out. Speaking of the last 10 years, there have been some really good teams win the 9th region. 2003- St. Henry 2004- CovCath 2005- Holmes 2006- CovCath 2007- Holmes 2008- Holmes 2009- Holmes 2010- Newport 2011- Dixie 2012- Boone co 9th region wasn represented very well the last 10 years. NCC has been close quite a few times. Lost in 3 regional championships. The NCC faithful have faith in their team and coaching staff. Not bad for a small school that competes year in and year out with the big boys.
  6. Are you being serious? Newcath has lost the last 2 seasons in the Regional Championship game. Your comment about them needing all new coaches is just plain ignorant. Of course NCC will lose a big game this year just like every other team in the 9th region. Unbelievable that this team is undefeated and reading this junk on here. Teams are sagging in and taking away the inside game of the Breds. That will be fine because Beuter and company will just shoot them out of it. NCC has balance, great inside game and very good guards. BTW- Breds play in the 9th region which is one if not the hardest regions in the state to win year in and year out. 9th region is loaded this year with good teams: NCC, Holmes, CovCath, Cooper, Holy Cross to name a few. This is a normal year in the 9th. There isn't a coaching staff around that works harder that Coach Brannen and his crew. Nothing is getting old on the hill, great team this year, next year and if you havent noticed there are some really good players coming in the next couple years. The only thing getting old is reading stupid posts like this. What a joke!
  7. No possible way you can mention the NCC defense without two words: Brady Thacker. He is the heart and soul of the NCC defense. Thacker had at least 12 tackles in the game and probably avergages at least 10 a game if not more. NCC defense is great unit and they all do their part but as you saw earlier in the year when Mr. Thacker was injured, they are a totally different team with him in their busting heads.
  8. They threw the ball more because NCC's defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage and they were having a hard time running the ball. Nussbaum took some really hard hits tonight. NCC was definitely the more aggressive team. Good Luck to both teams in the playoffs!
  9. One was a supervisor not a manager. The millions you guys are talking about is way over exaggerated. Funny how the guy who owned the storage barn isnt even brought up in the indictments and his 2 nephews are. Bad situation for everyone involved. I really feel for their families. Sounds like they will all do some time but I'm hearing 3 years max. The ones that actually stole the material should go down hard. I didnt see anything mentioned for tax evasion, I really thought that would be part of this case.
  10. #44 is Dylan Hayes. Sounds like he got a wake up call this week from Coach Eviston and his staff. Responded well. NCC is healthy finally and have played games to prepare for their district games & playoffs. Big game today from Mason Myers on offense. Kid runs hard and makes things happen. Very solid defensive effort led by! Brady Thacker. Newport next week for the firemans bell. Go Breds!
  11. It was 49-0 at half. Cooper is the real deal. Good win by Coach Borchers and the Jags.
  12. Cain was and is New Caths best QB. Bir is really good.
  13. Bad information because NewCath was not there playing in Lafayette. They have had 7 on 7's with CovCath and Campbell Co. Cain outplayed the other quarterbacks in every phase.
  14. "Me" was the most important word in that sentence. Nothing more needs to be said!
  15. Josh Cain throws 6 strong innings. Breds were led hitting by Cain and Andy Miller with homeruns. Good win against the Thorobreds and one of their best pitchers. Kid was bringing it, NCC was very aggressive at the plate.
  16. Greg Crawford was amazing tonight as well as the Newcath defense. Breds played small ball to win their 3rd title in 5 years. Breds had 3 shutouts in their 4 regional games. Heck of a job
  17. Second round matchups St. Henry vs. Cooper 5pm @ cooper Ryle vs. Dixie 5pm @ Dixie Brossart vs. CovCath 5pm @ CovCath NewCath vs. Highlands 5pm @ Morscher First round scores: St. Henry 12 Conner 5 Cooper 2 Simon Kenton 1 Ryle 12 Boone Co 2 Brossart 5 Holy Cross 4 CovCath 10 Campbell Co 2 Highlands 3 Beechwood 2 NCC 1 Scott 0
  18. NewCath 11 Ryle 4 NewCath 10 Campbell Co 3 Great pitching performances from Greg Crawford, Matt Striegal, Zack Pangallo and Leo Barth. Breds really hit the ball well and had some serious web gems from: Brandon Gray (ss), Derek Dew (RF), Clint Bartels (CF) & Greg Crawford (LF) in the Campbell Co game.
  19. Are grown men really on here discussing ACT scores. Really? There are many facts that go into an ACT type score. Ask anyone from Beechwood and they will tell you the reason their scores are so high is they have an ACT class that juniors and seniors have to take to prepare them. Seriously RB and Q you give other HHS people a bad name. I have to say in our community we have some very successful business owners doing very well for themselves that went to the school on the hill. Carlisle, Drees, Neltner, Pangallos, Kroger to just name a few. Get off your little ACT soap box.
  20. You have to deal with the whole "tuition" deal at a private school compared to a public school. Public schools are able to keep 7th or 8th graders and cut freshmen. Unfortunately, private schools are not able to do that.
  21. Like I said NCC played great defense and made it very tough for Brossart to score. I guess its boring if you like games in the 60-70 range. NCC missed a ton of shots the first half but it was fun to see them play defense like they did. Brossart is really struggling on offense but NCC had a lot to do with that tonight. Guarantee you Coach Brannen is thrilled with their effort tonight. This game is always a battle and tonight was no different.
  22. Best defensive performance of the year for the Breds. Big games from Michael Bueter, Brady Hightchew, Jake Schulte, Evan Morse and Nick Seibert. NCC took care of the ball against the Brossart pressure and played superb defensively. Brossart had to work hard for every basket. Drew Mcdonald went down in the first quarter with a high ankle sprain. Looks like he may be out for a couple weeks. Great atmosphere and packed house on the hill. JV game was exciting as well. Freshmen Zack Pangallo hit 2 free throws with 1 second remaining to give the Breds a 38-36 victory. NCC student body was amazing. Basketball players should be very thankful for the school spirit they have showed them. Keep it up! :thumb:
  23. Newcath will play the Scott/Covcath winner in one semifinal. Heard today the other semifinal is Boone vs. Dixie.
  24. Strange that coaches like Faust & Hicks' are called into question because of their overall record but most give Sullivan a pass.
