Bengal Maniac Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Holmes jumped ot to a quick 17-4 lead and coasted from there. Clearly they were just significantly better. Not really many details than what you would think. Holmes hit shots and caused turnovers in bunches. The birds didn't shoot well when they had shots and just did not have the talent to keep up.
Qryche11 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Holmes shoots the ball very well and are very good. I would love to catch their game next week vs NCC. Clearly they are the two best teams up here. CovCath close 3rd and Cooper as well. Birds were shorthanded with Houliston out sick and Witte out most of the week with illness, he only played half the game. Sophomore Parker Harris got his first Varsity start and had 8 pts and 15 boards. Nice Job Parker !!
Qryche11 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Very nice turnout and very nice presentation before the game. They brought in a couple of other survivors and honored them with standing ovation and Holmes apparel. One was a former All State Hoops star at North Hardin who went on to play college ball and another was a young man that went on to play football at UK and was team MVP his Sr year. I think Holmes pregame is extremely cool. The Bulldog at center court is awesome and the new lighting is also another nice addition. I asked Walter if they get good crowds for home games and he said they are starting to fill em in but man.....24-0....I dont know what else you have to do in order to draw a crowd.
stinkyboy II Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Holmes High School and the producers of the movie IMPACT put on a very nice program tonight. Crowd was good. Way more people than you would expect for the matchup on the court. More than half the crowd wore white as asked by the organizers. Neat to watch the camera guys working around getting shots of players, coaches, fans, etc. Will be fun to watch the movie and see how they work some of the pictures into the finished product. Very nicely done by the gentlemen singing the national anthem. Then we had the introduction of two bus crash survivors - both gentlemen served as honorary asst. coaches during the game. A bio was read for each man, both athletes in high school and college, and each was greeted with a standing ovation. Coach Booher was brought out onto the floor and again the fans rose to their feet in appreciation. His ovation was much louder and longer, it is obviuos he is much appreciated in Covington. Glad I was able to attend and be a part of the event.
Jack of all Trades Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I just have one question for the Holmes faithful. Why is there always a group of what look like to be students that decide to sit in or near the opponent section of the stands and be about as obnoxious as anyone can be. Where is the administration? And one of those students was attending NCC the last I knew. What happened with that and I am sure there will be some mysterious way in which he is eligible next year.

stinkyboy II Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 oh, and then there was a game that was played. Holmes got a very good shooting night from Coston (several three's) and Chames does a nice job of defending the paint. He was responsible for several blocks, and even more altered shots. 8-0 run to start the game, 20-6 after 1 quarter, game never close. Highlands ended the first half with their usual 14 point total. Holmes did coast through the second half and the Birds were able to avoid the dreaded running clock. It appeared as if that was the Birds objective from the opening tip, protect the paint, extend possessions on each end and get out of dodge without getting embarrassed. I hate that I feel this way, but I do. I will say it again, it is painful basketball to watch.
Bengal Maniac Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 What was obnoxious? I was sitting right next to them. Best student turnout of the year. Seemed like most student sections. There were 3 admistartors there.
Clyde Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 What was obnoxious? I was sitting right next to them. B. I think we found the problem.

Lawnboy13 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I just heard about Covington coming back to Holmes. Not sure what happened there. Enrolled at Holmes the Monday after the NC/Campbell Co. game. I believe his dad was not happy about his playing time, at least that is what I was told. :idunno:

These kids were in the Highlands section and the same garbage went on during the football game at Holmes this year as well.
