The Lady Rams dedicated this game, win or lose, to Alli Lemaster. They said they felt like they had a guardian angel with them. Each player dug deep and gave 110%. They made some incredible plays, maximized on every possible opportunity. Great job Lady Rams! Very good season for the Lady Devils. Great group of girls. A very special thanks to Norman's Locker Room who donated the arm bands with Alli's name on them. Each of the Lady Rams wore one in her memory. Ali went to church with some of the Lady Devils also and our girls gave them some of the arm bands also. Nice tribute with a moment of silence and prayer before the game.

Floyd has been the glue that held the boys' team together. Congrats, Coach Floyd!

Haven't heard any word on a coaching change, except that Floyd is also the head basketball coach.

Congratulations to Greenup County's Aaron Rowe on a verbally committing to Asbury College's baseball team. The college is located in Wilmore, KY. His official signing ceremony will be Monday at 12:30 in the high school library. Aaron not only excels on the diamond but also in the classroom, graduating as salutatorian of his class. Congrats AARON! We love you!

Just in from Louisville. Great tournament hosted by Touchstone Energy. This was the Lady Rams second trip there in 4 years. Some of the best softball I've seen in years. We finished state runners up to the defending champs Reidland. Reidland is also ranked 8th state wide among all softball divisions. Was very impressed with the play of the Lady Rams. Peaking at just the right time, proving that they can play and compete at the state level. Congrats on a great showing at state!

Lady Rams come out victorious in both games; 10-3 and 8-1, making them the Sectional All A champs. Raceland is starting to play as they are capable. Good job ladies. Take this momentum with you to the state games.

I hate to hear that she quit. She was quite the player. Maybe if Troy gets the nod, she can walk on again. She obviously excelled under his direction.

Prom and the All A have clashed very often the past several years. I believe there is some flexibilty in scheduling the regional all a games. It has always worked out well for us at Raceland. I think the coach and the administrators work together as best they can to schedule their all a games.

Both Trimble and Floyd are excellent coaches. My girls played for Bob for two years and softball for Floyd for 6 yrs. What a great problem to Raceland has...having two great coaches to choose from!

Also, I had the pleasure of visiting with Hannah Daniel and her family after the game. Hannah is well on her way to becoming the pitcher her sister is. Katie, btw, is pitching at a jr. college in IN and hit her first collegiate home run last Monday night. Another Daniel sister, Abby, is playing second base for the Eagles. Great kids,,,Great family!

Thanks to everyone for your great posts. My family has always been sports-minded and it has definitely positively influenced our lives. Sports certainly builds character. Brothers Bobby and Donny both excelled in high school sports and my younger brother John is a 4th degree Master Blackbelt. Dad was a tried and true Ironton Tiger football player, and nephew Aaron is a standout baseball player at GC. Hubby and I are very proud of our girls and are humbled and over-joyed at their opportunity to continue at the next level at such a fine school.

Sectionals will be played at Raceland on Monday. Two games to be played that day. I'll post the time when I know for certain, but most weekday games start at 5 or 5:30. Injuries caused the Lady Rams to start the season slowly, but they are healing and picking up quickly.

IMO, it is Floyd's position to turn down. I don't see him doing that. The question in my mind is who will he name as his assistant?

Raceland Lady Rams 7 Greenup Co. Lady Musketeers 1 Lady Rams start bringing out the bats. Good job ladies! Coach Gee is doing a great job with the GC ladies. Great effort and they never gave up.

The Raceland Lady Rams attended Transy's team camp for the past three years. My girls enjoyed it and I felt it was definitely worth the camp fees. They have a fundamental drills along with team play, and also have team play for the jv ladies. Lots of games, lots of learning. Ofcourse Coach Todd is there this year and he may realign the schedule. It would be exciting to attend one of his camps.

Yes it is a basketball award. Since the 1980's (yes when I was a student) at Raceland, and hopefully other area schools, an athlete must maintain a "C" average to be eligible to play a sport. The grades are reviewed weekly and if the grades aren't there, the athlete doesn't play. With that said, a 1.5 gpa athlete wouldn't be eligible to play ball and therefore wouldn't average 30 ppg. Indirectly, gpa's do play a part in basketball stats and in POY awards.

Thanks OldRambler and GoRadio. Katelynd was chosen for 2nd Team EKC and received a certificate. She came in yesterday very pleased with the recognition. Ofcourse Paige was very excited as well and enjoyed the dinner so graciously hosted the EKC at Carter Caves. Thanks to everyone for their support. GoRadio, were you at the dinner? I would loved for Paige to have met you in person. Perhaps she did and I can show her your picture on the EKC website! (that is you with the headphones on, isn't it)

I hate to hear that. So many athletes are suffering injuries. That is a lot to ask a high school kid to handle. Best wishes for a good report Katie!
