  1. ^ This is why good coaches quit!! Because of all the "your not doing enough for my kid" crap that takes place all the time. If your kid is big enough, strong enough, fast enough, smart enough, quick enough, and willing to give it everything they have to make it then you as a parent need to get with it and help them (coaches, recruiters, colleges) out. As stated above get the equipment and make video tapes, make copies and send them out. Hire recruting agent, and then hit the road visiting colleges.
  2. Other that relates to this situation? There are others, like drugs, head injurys, long term illness, childhood back injurys. Is this what you ment???
  3. Probably because he was having trouble breathing and went in Respirtory Arress, when he couldn't get enough O-2 to his body. When the body lacks air the brain will start shuting thing down like the kidneys because it demands all the O-2.
  4. Another fast kid that I saw play was Jerimery (sp) Britt for Danville. Wasn't very big but man he sure could run!!
  5. It's a hard judgement call. It depends a lot on who you have faced during the season. Some kids do really well against teams that struggle with everyone and then the same kid is shut down by a very good team. So therefor he really needs to go to these combines and matchup with some of the best talent in the country. There were districts that had 8 teams in them so it was hard to schedule tough teams. Where some teams had 4 and were going to post season play. These combines are set up for a reason and this is why, I know it's tough to get to some of these but if you don't your left at the mercy of maybe never being seen....................LTW.
  6. There was a Jamison kid that played football early in his career and then quit. I personally saw him run the 100 meter dash and he was very very fast. I later find out he had an uncle that play college ball and another reletive that played too. I asked one of the Somerset Coaches about why he wasn't playing football, they just said he didn't want to. I believe his 100 meter time was 10.5, isn't the world record just a shade and drug induced time just under 9.8
  7. I'm in the healthcare field and in this area. I've never heard of such a thing happening. The only time your kidneys shut down is because of trama or back injurys. The kidneys will shut down because the brain tells them to if the brain is suffering from lack of oxygen. Not for any other reason.
  8. I have a few comments about this!!! In my time I know of two examples of this and that's two to many. The first one was a kid that played football in youth league and was much bigger than his team mates and looked like he was going to be a force to recon with when he got into high school. Could have very easily been a starter his freshman year as a lineman offense and defense. For some reason during one of his physical there was something found and he was sent to a specialist in the Lexington area. He was found to have the same heart condition that the kid that signed with UK 7-8 years ago in Ohio that fell on the court and died. (I'm sorry I can't remember the kids name. He a 7 footer comming to UK.) This kid had to give up playing all sports even B-ball where he also excelled. This was in the 7th or 8th grade. The second example was a kid that played football early in life and then in high school was in track and field. A long distance runner no less. His senior year he was playing frizzbee football in the gym and just having a good time, got a pain and fell to the floor, was rushed to the hospital where he never recovered. It was a very sad day. He had never had a problem that anyone knew about. Here's my take, you just don't know!!! Adults, kids, babies are living with heart conditions that no one is aware of or may not ever be aware of. I believe this is one of those cases. Did him praticing in the heat bring it on, sure. Is anyone to blame, no! It's the unfourtnate things that happens in life. I asked myself should I play it safe and keep my kid from playing a sport any sport to keep he safe, NO! More kids are killed on bicycles each year than playing sports. Do we rid the world of bikes? Do we rid the world of competive sports? Do we not take our kids out on the road in our cars because I've heard that's a health hazard to? Losing a child is the worst loss any parent can suffer (I Know) but did I do everything a normal parent does to keep their kid happy and safe you bet your life I did. I believe these parents were talked into doing this and they will later regret doing so. Nothing will bring their son back and if they think money will make things better it won't. They should start a foundation and name it after their son and bring awareness to kids that may be saved because of their program and rejoice his life not drag it through a long drawn out court case where feeling will never mend. JMHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LTW.
  9. There will be a bunch of them hook up when Louisville/Murray State play the first game of the season.
  10. Here are a couple of sites I thought you might enjoy seeing. One is mostly about field turf and the second one is how it's installed. Enjoy. http://www.fieldturf.com/product/overview.cfm http://www.jsugamecocksports.com/article.asp?articleid=69464
  11. Got to see OJ play again tonight!! What a talented player!! has the complete package to play basketball. Tubby was at the game and Mayo and Patterson put on a show...... # 21 for HHS was a very good player as well. Where ever OJ goes they are contenders right out of the gate. Can pass, shoot, and run point. He'll be fun in college for one no more than two years and then gone. It was a fun game to be at. Glad I was there!!
  12. Correct!!! http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/derek_abney
  13. Same to you my Steeler buddy. I'm going to the next weekend games in Lex how about you?
  14. Roy Williams was at the Madison Central game. I told him he had the wrong color blue on in this part of the country. Seem like a nice guy thought. Pretty cool!!
  15. I'm a believer that play several sports. But again that's my opinion. My son chose not to do that and played one sport in high school. It worked out for him but I really never thought putting all your hopes on one thing was the best way to go. Like all eggs in one basket. I believe you should have multi options that way if one doesn't come through then maybe something else will. Now some people will disagree with that and tell kids to focus on being very good at one sport and it will be the best way. I can name several times that didn't come true. So hear it is, do well in school and make the best possible grades young kids because that is the one constance that you can control so start there and then focus on sports as iceing on the cake if you so happen to be offered and accept a scholarship to do the "iceing on the cake". Good luck!!!
  16. ^^^^ What they said!!!!:thumb:
  17. I will have to concur, he looks the part and is a b-ball player. LC gave them a great game though and it was fun to watch but Hickson is going to be fun to watch in college. Runs the floor really really well. got a couple of good team mates.
  18. Man it was fun!!! Watched a lot of B-ball tonight. Some of these kids can really ball. If you like basketball this was the place to be. Going back tomorrow!!
  19. I'm going both days!!! Sounds like I'm going to see some good players. Going to root for Madison Central!!!
  20. I think the rule has been changed on that. You can no longer play High School Football (etc. Freshman, JV, or Varsity) while you are still in grade school. It changed several years ago right after Dennis Johnson for H-burg had been playing for years and years. Some said he played while he was in 5th grade. I believe that's the ruling now...........Maybe a Coach will help us out here??
  21. I think you did a fantastic job, I don't believe I could pick 36 over all players each year but you guys seem to do so. I know there is much time involved and I want you to know a lot of us apperciate all the work. In past I don't remember a lot of neg statements and you GURU having to do explaining on how and why? Maybe just me. Anyways I'm proud to be a member of this fourm and it just thrills me that FOOTBALL is alive and doing well in this state. Keep it up BGP and I'll continue to enjoy. Congrad's to all who made this list of players I'm sure you were big time players for your fans to see every Friday night. Good luck in your future endevors.
  22. The team of 2003, graduates of 2004. It's in the BGP Classic.
  23. The only problem with the Sweet 16 at Rupp is all the lower arena seats are gone. The only tickets you can get are the seats behind the back boards. You have to sit with the schools band and students. Upper arena seats you can get. Last year I went two days and half the seats in the lower arena didn't have no one in them and the ushers would let you sit in them either. What's up with that? I was told that last year that Scott Co. had bought a bunch of tickets and then Scott got knocked out before making it. I believe they should have returned their tickets for their money back if they weren't going to come...........Bummer to have sit upper arena if you don't have to!!!
