  1. I haven't been able to review the tape but if Garnick is not in the game Highlands scores a few more TD's. I'll bet he had to be the leading tackler for CCH and it's not a good sign when your safety is making most of the tackles.
  2. O.K., I'll give Buten, Drennen, Gold and Welz the credit they deserve for being Highlands receivers that help make the big plays!!!:thumb:
  3. Not only the third time if it is I'm mistaken. My point is there is more to the QB than throwing the ball high in the air and the reciever coming down with the ball. I agree the line is very good and the recievers are very good but don't think anyone can step in and be productive. I'm not taking anything away from New or McCoy either... If you think this is easy to complete why don't more teams throw the long ball...because it's not a high percentage pass to complete!!!
  4. VOR, I don't understand your comments over and over about the receivers. We know we have good receivers!!! But you have to give Towles credit for getting the ball to the receivers. Towles is doing a great job running the offense and is a very accurate passer, give the kid credit!!!
  5. I mentioned that I don't want to take anything away from West because West is a good QB, however my choice would be Bardo. By the way receivers are going to miss balls thrown to them unfortunately that happens. I do agree with you Bardo has very good receivers but even good receivers drop the ball some times. A good receiver can help the QB as much as a good QB can make the receiver look good. It's a team sport not and individual sport and stats are not the most important part of the game. By the way without a good line the QB and receivers are not very effective and Highlands has a very good line as well with Schlosser, Grubbs, Combs, Hahn, Meyers and Welz!!!
  6. Our prayers will be with the Rudd family and friends!!! I didn't know Andy but he sure has touched so many people in the Northern Kentucky community. God Bless!!!
  7. Injured or not I'll take Bardo over West. The game plan on holding him back for the St.X game worked as planned. Compare the schedules of Highlands and Conner, Highlands has played a tougher schedule. I not taking anything away from West but as the best in Nky. I beg to differ!!! I agree with Highlands as the best team in the State of Kentucky.
  8. I haven't seen Dawson play but I'll take Roller, his performance against St. X was outstanding!!!
  9. :ylsuper: With the schedule they have played so far and how successful the team has been, I would have to agree.
  10. Congrats to Highlands for the win over Dixie!!! Towles started out the game the way I thought he would with it being his first Varsity start. Once he settled down he did a fine job and got better as the game went on. I always thought Patrick would make a good QB but more importantly he is a fine young man!!! Good job Birds keep it up, one game at a time!!!
  11. Coach Lewis was a great coach and a better person. My senior year we were rated the number 1 team in Kentucky and he came to Newport stadium to play a practice game against NC. Wyoming was rated #1 pre-season in their division that year. They spanked us by three touchdowns or so. I believe Wyoming went undeated that year and didn't make the play-offs, if my memory serves me right Moeller went to state that year. For a coach to leave a successful program and go to Conner was a surprise to me. He turned that program around and showed just how good of a coach he was. My prayers go out to his family!!!
  12. And if he doesn't in a short period of time everyone wants his head on a platter!!!
  13. One may be right but not several if he isn't a good coach. Your comment leads me to believe that you think it is easier to coach at Highlands, T,X, or Danville which may be right in the beginning of a coaches career however; if your not successful early in the mentioned coaching positions you won't be around long. Lets not forget that the programs mentioned (Highlands, X and T not sure about Danville) play tougher schedules than most teams in Kentucky.
  14. I agree the Birds are not firing on all cylinders but it was one of the worst refed games I ever witnessed and I don't like to make excuses or be negative toward the refs but this one was hard to watch. There was one penalty called on Withrow to I don't know how many called on highlands.
  15. No, the paper was wrong. The first one was but the other pass late in the game was by another QB.
  16. I was told last night that his injury is a deep bruise nothing broken. Good news!!!
  17. Actually there were two, one by AC and one by Bardo, both long passes.
  18. I agree, anytime I see a lineman running down field to block for the QB on a long TD run its a good site. Tyler Robinson #75 was stride for stride with the QB McCoy all the way down the field and made the final block before McCoy scored. A beautiful run by McCoy as well.:dancingpa
  19. I look at it like how fortunate Manual was to only lose 19-8. The score could of been much worst in my oppinion.
  20. I agree and this is coming from a Highlands fan. I saw the coach talking to Elliott when he would come out of the game and I know he will continue to work on controlling his emotions and letting them out at the right times throughout the game. Conner has always impressed me as a good QB and one tough kid as we witnessed on a late game INT (what a hit he delivered). It was obvious that Conner wanted that pass back but how many times do you see this happening late in a game because the QB is trying to score and the D is dropping back in coverage. All and all this game is only going to help both teams progress as the season continues.
