  1. Got ya!!! I didn't mean to come across as questioning the coaches because I know they know more about the game and kids than I do. I just like the fact of the center snapping to the QB's as well.
  2. L/N, I hope your right but I have to agree with UCRN, it wouldn't hurt to have the centers working on snaps as well. This has been a problem over the years and I personnally don't understand why they don't take the opportunity during the 7 on 7's to work on this. The center has the snap to worry about and getting to his block at the same time, it may seem simple but I don't think you can ever practice it enough.
  3. Congrats Austin, very well deserved and looking forward to watching you and the Birds play this year. Thank God he plays like his Mother!!!
  4. This is not a good rule for football, I talked to several college coaches last year and they do not like the kids not being able to participate in 7 on 7 events.
  5. I agree, but would like to mention Schlosser on the o-line the kid just dominated whoever he went against all night. Centre is lucky to get this young man!!! Welz also had a good night playing tight end. And as you mentioned Buckler and Johnson looked good at running back. On the defensive side of the ball Lowe from Holmes had a heck of a game and Jake Smith came alive after he was called for a horsecollar on number 30 who jumped in his face after the tackle. I hope number 30 is OK because I know Jake didn't try bring him down this way he had to dive to make the tackle and it just happened. Jake and Mark Snyder made a great tackle towards the end of the fourth quarter that stopped the West from getting a first down. Big play that could have changed the outcome of the game. I thought Rigdon did a fine job considering the lack of practice time the teams had and Simpson had a beautiful run but unfortunately took himself out of the game after this play (out of football shape like everyone or most of everyone else). This is one of the reasons why I don't like the timing this game. Boden and Walker also stood out to me as being very good players. All in all a good game and one of the best all-star games I have seen in some time. I'm also happy everyone came out of this game without any major injuries.
  6. To add to my short response... i also feel we put too much pressure on some of the players by predicting they are the best junior QB before the young man has even started one varsity game. Not to take anything away from Pike but right now I think anyone who knows anything about the game would have to give Towles the edge at this time. The young man proved himself last year when many thought Highlands was in trouble after Bardo was injured. I wish both QB's a successful season!!!
  7. VOR, very well put, I agree with you and can't stand it when people take shots at the young athletes that are trying their best!!!
  8. I understand what you are saying but I don't agree with you. Maybe part of the problem with society, college ball and professional ball is there are to many kids or adults that don't care about academics or doing what is morally right. Thank God for sports for without sports some of the players would never get through college or be playing in the pro's. My statement is not fair to the players that are good role models for our kids but lets face it a coaches job is to win and there are a lot of them that feel the same way you do when it comes to the classroom. For that matter you have owners like Mike Brown who is looking for the best deal instead of the best interest of the team!!! I know this is way off line for the subject but true. I personnally would want my son in a good academic program surrounded by coaches that care about his future than him having the opportunity to play D1.
  9. Hoosierbirdfan, You are correct and for someone to make a statement that a player picks another school or level of Division due to being afraid is ludicrous!!! Education does play a part for some of the athletes!!!
  10. He deserves all the recognition he is receiving... I had a B in his class and didn't come close to your daughters ACT scores!!!:notworthy:
  11. I'm sure his parents are very proud of him and they should be, a nice young man!!!
  12. I played for Coach but my son was denied the opportunity!!! It's a shame it used to be such a good rivalry!!!
  13. The fact is that D1 is the best of the best and % wise send most players to the NFL ... The fact is also that D1 coaches miss out on talented players that slip through the cracks and still make it to the NFL. The fact is we will never know what is good enough until the players career is over!!!
  14. Highlands defense would do just fine against West...they see good QB's everyday in practice!!!
  15. I have a similar situation with my son... He had several offers from other schools but once he stepped on the University of Dayton's campus and met the players, coaches and Dean of Engineering he knew it was the right school for him. Football can only last so long and take you so far in life, at UD you are a student first and football player second!!!
  16. Congrats and good luck at ONU!!! I believe Thomas More previous coach is at ONU and know it has a good engineering program.
  17. Congrats to Ricky, you had a fantastic year. Good luck at Cumberland!!!
  18. There is no I in team...I hope we don't over hype this young man so much that he feels he has to do too much instead of what is asked of him. Dale will control the game and the seniors will supply the leadership. Patrick will be the QB but let the kid enjoy his next two years without putting too much on his shoulders!!!
  19. Great news, Congrats Cam I know Mom and Dad are very proud of you and mentioned you were leaning toward the Mount. Best of wishes!!!
  20. Congrats young man, you have made a great choice. I wish you the best!!!
  21. Billyblane, I couldn't agree with you more about the negative comments that are not neccessary but I guess everyone has an opinion. I also believe Dixie Darling was making more of a clarification on when a player can accept a written scholarship offer versus being negative toward the player mentioned.
  22. I disagree, I feel Hempel and Towles have the best upside of the four players mentioned. If you want to talk about stats Lawrence and Kremer will probable be in the top of the stats catagory but that doesn't make them the best QB's in NKY. There is more involved with being the best Qb in NKY other than stats alone.
