It was truly gut-check time for Austin Collinsworth and probably several other players. You could tell from the beginning that he was winded and didn't feel well. But he played through it like a champ! :thumb:

Outstanding job by the defense. Offense really moved the ball well but kept shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers and penalties. Really hated to look over in the second half and see Will and Austin on the bench.

I would like to see someone post the final stats.

I'll work on it.

Before CovCath's last possession, I think CovCath only had one first down offensively. HHS defense really stepped up today to shut down CovCath. Offense wasn't to shaby either. Great job Birds!!!

On the radio, they said CCH only had like 16 yards in the 1st half while HHS had over 300.

Erpenbeck was 1/6 for 1 yard & 1 INT in the 1st half. The INT came late when HHS had just taken the lead and allowed them to score again in the 2nd quarter. He was hit as he threw. Sounds like that really hurt.

What radio station was the game broadcast on?

Covcath radio....

The Highlands defense really played well today shutting the Colonels down. Great job by Towles as he hit on his first 3 passes and then scampered in for the first Bird TD. He is settling in and doing a fine job in BArdo's absence. Austin was running hard all day and was winded. I did notice he was not in the game much in the 2nd half.

Take away the 1st qtr miscues and this game could have been really ugly but credit the Colonels for picking up the loose ball and taking it the distance. Outside of that score it was all Highlands.

Congrats to the Birds in their quest for #19.

Who is #14 for the Colonels? Boy has some wheels.

All I was able to get was the following, right at the end of the game:

Highlands

361 rushing

124 passing

Troy Timmerman. He's a junior.

He picked up that fumble and took off. Collinsworth couldn't even catch him.

Collinsworth was running on about a half a tank today. I felt really bad for him when he finished running out that pursuit. You could see he was struggling. However, his end zone "fumble" was clearly not a fumble.
