Not only the third time if it is I'm mistaken. My point is there is more to the QB than throwing the ball high in the air and the reciever coming down with the ball. I agree the line is very good and the recievers are very good but don't think anyone can step in and be productive. I'm not taking anything away from New or McCoy either... If you think this is easy to complete why don't more teams throw the long ball...because it's not a high percentage pass to complete!!!

 

I agree, Patrick made some bigtime throws today that only our receivers could make the catch. Nice job today...

It sounds like Highlands' defense, offensive line and QB Towles had great games today. The team really needs to hold onto the ball better, though... this seems to be a recurring issue for the 'Birds. Also, I was upset to hear that HHS had at least three personal foul penalties called.

I missed the game today, trust me only in Boone County would you have a AAU basketball meeting during the HHS/Cov Cath game :irked: However, I had faith in the bunch and I have noticed Austin really stepping it up the past few weeks. It looks like a team effort. It was nice to be able to hear the details on BGP.

I agree. I think Austin has stepped up and improved every game. I'm very happy to see he looks like he's having fun playing the game. His pass defense today was excellent. I gotta give Tyler Fennell some credit today at running back. He hasn't been getting many carries over the past few weeks, but today when he was needed he really stepped up. I also have to give Hunter Schlosser credit today. He has several blocks today that were devastating. On defense I thought Roller and Dierig had typical solid games that's become expected of them. Nice game Birds!

The Enquirer's online story said that Austin Collinsworth actually played two quarters (and played very well) after sustaining the injury, so I don't think it's that bad.

 

And as an FYI to those reading about "Austin" in this thread, there are two different Austins, Austin Abner (DB) and Austin Collinsworth (RB).

If he had held onto them he would have had two picks. Also had some nice hits.

HHS clearly showed they are the dominant team in NKY and 5A throughout the state. My only concerns as a HHS fan would be AC's propensity to put the ball on the ground, my young qb, and 15 yrd penalties. Fix those and you cruise.

Thought the same thing. It wasn't going to be good if this years version of Van Sant (as in big play saving tackles) was Chris Garnick(sp). He is lightning fast. Problem is he was making tackles 8+ yards down field most of the day. If not for him. WOW! Don't even want to speculate.

It isn't easy to complete. Not at all. And not just anyone can throw it up there. I am not trying to take anything away from Bardo and Towles because you do have to have the arm strength and talent to make that throw. But when you can totally trust that your receiver will outrun and outmaneuver the defender to the ball like Highlands' receivers do, it makes the throw a lot easier. The Highlands receivers have great speed and hands and do an excellent job getting in position to make sure they catch those balls or no one does. And the vast majority of the time they catch them. Give the receivers their props.
