It was a tough loss for CovCath but everyone seems to think that CovCath has the right coaching staff in place (which apparently could not be said for the past few years), and it will only be a matter of time until this rivalry is back where it was... one of the very best in the state.

 

Finally, I implore the HHS and CCH fans on BGP not to take shots at each other's programs. The game was played, it's over, and both HHS and CCH have new opponents to prepare for. Both teams are playoff-bound for sure, and both teams have bigger goals in mind than merely winning the game that was just played.

I agree that our receivers don't get the credit they deserve nor do our qbs. :thumb:

 

in light of Bluesport's post about the outcome of the game not being a surprise to him, I have a question for the CovCath faithful (now that this game is behind us): was the outcome any different from what you honestly thought would happen? I'm not talking about the loss or even the margin, but the pretty much domination by Highlands.

 

Highlands was certainly dominant, but I think that's to be extected. Cov Cath has two, maybe three players who can compete on the same level of talent as any number of Highlands' starters. The outcome was somewhat different from my expectations, all the same. I expected to see Highlands break into the 30's without much trouble, but I had envisioned it happening a little differently.

 

From what I saw in the first half, Highlands came out rolling, as was to be expected. It took Cov Cath's defense a bit to get their feet under themselves at all, which fortunately ran concurrently with Highlands shooting themselves in the foot several times over. However, I would have thought Cov Cath's offense would have had some kind of push in the game. You can't expect anyone's defense to keep competing series after series when their offense is only giving them a minute or so of clock time to get to the sideline and get a breather before they have to go back in.

 

All in all, Highlands performed as I expected them to, but I was surprised by Cov Cath's lack of offense. I know Highlands D is tough and has been stopping lots of teams week after week, but I still expected to see more than I did from Cov Cath's O. I though Erpenbeck had a poor outing: he was running standing straight up, the passes he did get off were generally off target, and he had a hard time realizing that when he was getting 3 or 4 seconds worth of pass protection, that was all he was ever going to get against a team like Highlands, so he needed to get rid of the ball (open passer or no open passer). The O-line wasn't getting any push whatsoever, so the run was virtually useless.

 

I can tell you from watching this Cov Cath team play week after week, however, that their offense IS better than what was seen yesterday afternoon, and I have an honest feeling that had they showed up to play to their full potential yesterday, the score would have been somewhat different.

Clyde I have to disagree with you. Last years team lost 100 -0 in two games. Much improvement from last year and I am very excited about the next 5 years for the CCH program. It will be on a roll with the talent.

Not sure what you're disagreeing with? 61-0 was the score of the one and only game between these two last year.

Hoosierbird does that give a player the right to punch another player on the field. To me that equals no class. The coach should of pulled him from the game and put him on the bench. The term "Homer" is implied when you lose the game. Penalties are missed on both sides of the ball.

It is also implied when blatant bad calls occur against one team and not the other. Like an obvious td that is called a touchback. Horrible and I mean HORRIBLE call..Those guys were flat out bad..:puke:

I didn't say anybody had the right to do anything!!!! Did I say anything about you or your team having no class??? The refs called the penalty against the HHS player for the punch,and missed the facemask call against the CCH player:rolleyes:. Highlands doesn't lose many games so I use the term "homers" when I think the officiating is a little off in favor of the home team!!! How many penaltys did CCH have called on them? ZERO,yes they were homers. :laugh::laugh:

If they would have pulled him from the game,it would not have mattered,HHS had his clone ready to replace him,no drop off in talent on this team.

I am just kdding.. I have heard that he will not be play qb the rest of the year. If I was a betting man I would think he might play some wideout. With his straight line speed he could be very dangerous on the outside.

 

It really doesn't matter where Will plays. If he lines up on the outside it will create problems and if he lines up in the backfield it will spell trouble. It doesn't matter....Teams still have to execute to stop HHS. Just ask Spellman from Conner a few years back. Like 1996!!! He knew what play HHS was running just by the formation but said they were unstoppable. I don't find this team really any different from the ones in the past. It really isn't a secret and HHS is flat out predictable at times but you still have to buckle it up and stop them. Just better prepared teams people.
