Not game related but I did notice CCH has a pep band now.

 

Yeah they seemed a little new to the whole game experience playing while the game was going on.

Actually they have been doing it for a few years now but the CovCath/NDA band director, NDA math teacher, doesn't understand football all that well! :lol:

HHS clearly showed they are the dominant team in NKY and 5A throughout the state. My only concerns as a HHS fan would be AC's propensity to put the ball on the ground, my young qb, and 15 yrd penalties. Fix those and you cruise.

 

You know the HHS o-line dominated when the CCH db's all had or were close to double digits in tackles. The CCH front 7 were completely dominated.

"If Collinsworth doesn't pick it up and hold on to the ball we're in trouble,"

"That Towles kid is to young, he's only 17 for 30 in his first two varsity starts with 310 yards passing."

This isnt the first team that has had this problem against Highlands. The list keeps growing every week! GO BIRDS!

 

It is so much fun to watch these guys step up each week. Defense, o-line, receivers, backs and QB have all picked it up a notch.

Austin Abner over the last several weeks has made a Highlands a better football team. This team has kept right on going. Not just because of Towles, who is doing a very good job, but because of players like Abner and a countlesss host of others who have picked up the slack. The Highlands offensive line is flat getting it done. I would love read about an interview with one of those guys after a game.

I was being a little sarcastic 75center when I made those comments. But you did illustrate my point that Highlands fans are confident and know that it's about to get even better sooner rather than later. Sorry for the confusion.

I agree with the posts above about being surprised CCH's offense could not move the ball at all. The Highlands defense is what is starting to really set this team apart from even the best Highlands teams of the past and makes me think more and more that they truly are one of the best teams in the nation.

I sat in the middle of the Bluebird faithful and walked out amongst them as well and heard nothing but praise for all of the HHS players. Heard some concern over both AC and Wil Bardo both possibly being out but we have some time to get them back and as far as Patrick Towles goes I did not hear anyone express any concern - the fact is he threw a better ball than the Erpenbeck.

How about #5 Austin Abner for almost setting the tone for this game on the 2nd or 3rd play of CovCath's 1st series. If he comes down the with the pick and takes it to the house, this game is over in a hurry. Great job today Austin for stepping up to the challenge. You are making us proud!!!!:thumb:

 

Double A has developed into a fine defender, a combination of toughness and being in the right place at the right time. I loved his late game sack also coming off the edge. He showed some nice speed there.

I agree that our receivers don't get the credit they deserve nor do our qbs. :thumb:

 

in light of Bluesport's post about the outcome of the game not being a surprise to him, I have a question for the CovCath faithful (now that this game is behind us): was the outcome any different from what you honestly thought would happen? I'm not talking about the loss or even the margin, but the pretty much domination by Highlands.

 

Was not surprised by the score at all after seeing HHS play twice this season but I wasn't at all happy with the lack of yardage gained by the CovCath "O".

 

To their credit, the "D" played a rather good game. Now I understand that I will get some who will say but CovCath gave up 36 points, but when you consider how long the CovCath "D" was on the field and where the HHS "O" started at time after time, I was impressed with the CovCath "D".

 

As far as this HHS team being the best or one of the best ever (that I have seen and I have seen a lot of HHS teams), I can honestly tell you no!

 

The "D" is outstanding and maybe one of the best ever, but the "O"? No way! You don't fumble four times and twice at the goaline, get three PF, and have to kick two FG's and call yourself the best of all time. Dale wanted to run up the score as much as possible as he always does against CovCath (HHS fans you know that is true) but couldn't, so no this is not one of the best HHS team ever.

 

Good luck HHS fans but you really won't need it this season but after watching the CovCath Frosh, and the two CovCath middle school teams with the speed and talent they have, well....... :clap::clap::thumb:

I agree, while Erpenbeck looks like he is quicker than Towles, it was Patrick making the great passes yesterday. He laid a couple up for Drennan yesterday that were perfect and Drennan made an over the shoulder catch on one of them.

 

Towles really shows that he is not afraid to be a leader out there, in fact on one penalty deep in CovCath territory where a RB moved early I could see him giving the guy a little lip. You need that from your QB, he is the leader and no matter what his age might be the bottom line is that the offensive unit must listen to him.

 

Great job once again by the Offensive line as CovCath had some nice sized Defensive lineman that looked difficult to move.
