Unbelievable that GRC's Preston Knowles is not on this list. IMO, he's one of the top guards in the state - right up there with Slaughter, Mack, & Dunaway. Congrats to Walt Allen and his SL teammates on their recognition!

Leatherneck - I don't know if you're trying to, but you are coming off pretty elitist. This class is probably not needed at Highlands, but please understand that the rest of KY is not a lot like Ft. Thomas. I'm afraid that the homelife of kids in and around Ft. Thomas may be substantially different than that of some kids from areas out and about in rural Kentucky. Believe it or not, there are kids that DO have to walk home after football practice (several miles). I've witnessed it myself, and since, rides have been arranged for them. There is no way these kids could participate in after school weightlifting. Since you practice law for a living, it should be relatively easy for you to come up with a valid argument why these kids should not be lifting weights and doing conditioning in PE class vs/ playing ping-pong, badminton, or dodgeball. You've been told several times that the Advanced PE classes are not substitued for "Core" curriculum, but for other PE classes and electives. I also know of kids who "stay in school" only for athletics. If it wasn't for athletics, they would drop out tomorrow. Thank goodness for athletics, and having to make grades, it keeps a lot of kids in school.

Whether you look at the Senior year only, or entire career, it makes no difference to me. If Mr. Basketball is the award for "Best Senior Basketball Player in the State of Kentucky" I would have to vote for Slaughter. If it is for the Senior that is a good player and great kid, getting the absolute most out of the ability that God gave him, with excellent sportsmanship - I'd have to vote for Walt Allen. Walt may be the best kid playing basketball in KY, but I don't believe he's the best basketball player. JMO But with that being said...I sure hope that he wins it!

My son got the same invite last week, and he's a Senior to be (current Junior). It appears to be pretty pricey, but I bet it would be a fun experience.

Are you kidding? I'm pretty sure that Corbin lost a BUNCH, and Clay County was as bad as I've ever seen them last season. Maybe you know something that I don't, do they have some young kids that will be stepping up in a major way?

I understand that, but if you watched the game that I did, SL looked very disoriented while attempting to get off that last shot in regulation. SL had the better talent on the floor, I think calling a set play might have worked out a little better for them.

I was more puzzled as to why SL didn't call a TO at the end of regulation. They had plenty of them, and killed plenty of clock to take the last shot.

Depth? SL plays 7 players. They may have quality depth, but they NEVER use it. I've seen them up 25+ in the 4th, and still have their starters in the game. I think SL wins this game, relatively easily. Hopefully Wright will rest his starters as much as possible, they'll need that rest come Saturday morning.

Football. I know that in KY that basketball is king, but football is my favorite.

Every other region in KY has schools that are more "centrally located", but they still rotate the host site, or play at a neutral site. It is simply not fair for one school to have home court advantage every single season.

That's what I'd like to know. Why is this allowed to happen every year. Is it the voting of several of the small schools that have no chance to make it to Rupp? I've never understood why Mason hosts the regional tournament every year. It appears to be a definate advantage for the Royals.

I'd say that the rest of the 13th would have been happier with NL, SL, Corbin, & Clay all in the same district.

Maybe so, why do you think that is? Pretty good trade in NL & SL for Rockcastle when it comes to attendence, especially since Clay is so close to Laurel County.

I think they've done a pretty good job. The parking situation was handled great (buses), and the concessions are well stocked and manned. The traffic issue is BAD, but I put that on the local law enforcement, not Clay County HS. If the local police would just help the flow, it would be fine, but I've not seen any out in town. People ALWAYS complain about the split sessions, and I'm of the opinion that they're not necessary in the first round games. I've decided to just watch one game, not stick around for 2. There is WAY too much time in between games.

Hats off to Red Bird, and a hard fought game. They obviously came in more ready to play than NL The Jags had no one that could stop Red Bird's Berry from driving to the basket. NL finally woke up, and their depth prevailed, pulling away in the fourth quarter.

Blanchester is a very small city school. Not much of a basketball program, but excellent football & wrestling programs.
