What do you mean that 1 from east plays 1 from east?

It has typically been the same sister districts each year. What changes the teams within the district is the redistricting process that happens when the KHSAA reclassifies schools. So you will see a difference within the districts next season since the KHSAA is set to reclassify this upcoming offseason.

I know we've talked playoff structure until we are blue in the face, but I was wondering if someone could clarify how the playoff system will be modified this season? I know that sister districts will be paired based on their seeding ie. 1 seed from district A plays the 4 seed from district B, 2 plays 3 and 3 plays 2. But when does RPI come into play within the process? Will it still happen during round 3, or will it start during round 4? Thanks in advance for any clarification you all can help me with!

This is my personal opinion but I've always thought that boys volleyball and girls contact football should be in the spring.

I think it depends on the kid and that the coach has to handle and make exceptions for certain kids differently. If a kids is playing multiple sports then they can't expect to keep them all year. However, if a kid only plays football and this is the player's only outlet then it might be an overall good for the kids to have something to do year round. I think it takes discernment for a coach to see their program and the types of kids that they have as a whole and make a good judgement call for the kids that he coaches. It is always to put them first and make decisions that is best for the kids within the program. Structure year-round is what a lot of kids need.

I tried to scan the forum before I ask this question, but I just want to be sure... If a player changes residence to the district does this rule come into effect for him/her? Or is this just for those that live out of district?

Hearing a big name out of the east might be interested in moving to the west... Don't know if it is Mayfield or not, but that's just what I am hearing.

Ethan Atchley is one heck of a coach and a program who gets him will be lucky to have him. Every single person makes mistakes. Some of them are very hard to forgive, others not as much. I know that we hold coaches to a higher standard as we should, but also we need to realize that Coach Atchley has done a lot of good for a lot of kids, and that he is a young coach who made a mistake... A mistake that I believe is forgivable. If an administration decides to take a chance on him, they will be getting one heck of a steal. Provide the opportunity to earn the players/parents/admin trust again. I believe in giving people what they have earned, and he has earned the right to have another chance to prove himself.. IMO.

I'm always interested to know what schools are doing leading up to spring football? If you know, what are your schools doing in the offseason to better their athletes? Obviously people are lifting, but what does that look like? Who are some programs that you feel like are doing it "the right way" by the way they are doing things, and why? Install, weights, speed work, drills, culture, etc...

I always hate comparing kids to adults argument because they are not adults. Coaches and Players should not be compared. It is a completely different point of life. What coaches do is separate from the conversation about kids transferring. But if a comparison is to be made, then we must look and realize that IF coaches want to get to better situations (jobs) in their life then they must make the best and work hard through the situation that they are currently in! You work hard at the program that you are in SO THAT you can improve your spot in life and move to a greater position... This is the same thing that we get with college recruiting. You work your tail off to shine in a worse program to then stand out to college opportunities. Also if a head coach sees that a different coach is constantly jumping around to different programs at the high school level and that the coach can never commit to a program longer than a year or two, then no one will hire them (unless desperate) because there would be red flags about their character and who they are as a person... College coaches do this all of the time, that is the nature of coaching college football, but High school coaches do not because the high school football culture is completely different than the college football culture. We as adults cannot keep solving all of our kids problems without ever teaching them to work solve them on their own. That is not an accurate representation of what life will be like once they get out of school. Also, I don't see it making schools work to improve their football program to retain kids. Administrators who don't support sports truly don't see the importance of them as it relates to academics. I doubt most of those who don't understand the value of football would be phased at all to lose football or to have their football team struggle.

Very much against this. Look at what it has done in the college level. We as a society are continually supporting the idea that if you don't like your current situation then just leave instead of working your tail off to overcome it. We do this and yet want to complain about how "soft" kids are these days or that we can't develop a work force who works hard. It is the choices that we are making as adults that shape our kids and the next generation. Also, places with established programs will now pull in any kid who is serious about playing football at the next level. This will take away the opportunity/playing time of the students who maybe aren't as talented that are living in those districts. It will also pull the talent from schools that are trying to develop their program. As someone already said, the haves will have more, and the have nots will have less.

Congrats to Coach Jaggers, a great hire all-around for Lincoln Co.

Another big job that I'm shocked no one is talking about. Biggest school in the state, surely someone is hearing something?

For such a big job, I'm shocked there hasn't been any talk or rumors about what's happening. Has anyone heard anything?

Chuck Smith's calendar goes from March 31st to April 2nd because nobody fools Chuck Smith.

They want coaches to act as administrators/counselors themselves and to their team and yet not take administrator's pay.

This is what I've heard as well. School not willing to commit to what is needed.

This is a great, great hire. It was a very good hire with Crutchfield. But with Hester also in the weight room and on Defense, this is about as good of a hire as they could have done. Well-done to the Garrard Admin and hiring committee.

Lincoln County has the talent to be a dangerous football team... One horse town, no independent school to pull kids... They just continue to run off really good coaches though. French, Settles, and maybe Crutchfield? I'm not saying he left with bitter or anything or that he was treated poorly. What I'm saying is until Lincoln gives its football program what it gives its basketball program or more, they won't keep top-tier coaches. They will always be a stepping stone to a better job for coaches. If they truly like Spencer and thought that he was a great coach to get behind, then they should have done everything in their power to keep him there.

Any word on this Job? I'm hearing Steven French is likely for the job. Any truth to this?

Coach O's family is from Ohio so he's a little bit closer. Recruiting will surely be easier in Georgetown as opposed to Columbia... but besides that, this seems like a lateral move and he has shown that he can still dominate GTown even in Columbia where is he treated like almost like the other president of the college. I wonder why he would have left. Has to be a significant pay raise I would assume. Why else would you leave something you've built for another NAIA school?
