The program had been revived until the firing of Clevenger. That's when everything started to fall a apart. So, to point to the original question, a lack of consistent administration has killed that school culture.

In the past I would have agreed with this but now recruiting is so much about self-promotion. Colleges are looking at kids on twitter to see who they are being offered by and if someone in their conference offers a kid then they are more likely to go check him out and then offer him. The more kids can say they have been offered, the larger their chance for drawing more attention... I think there are some high school coaches who know this as well and have a good network with college coaches, and they ask the colleges to "fake offer" kids (purely to help a kid's recruiting with another school). In return they will keep pushing their best athletes toward that college in the future. You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

I'll really be interested to see what Male looks like. They return weapons on offense like Gainey and Harris, but lose Swinney. I believe there is a pretty talented Freshman running back that is coming up. I also know their offensive line struggled in spots but the anchor of their line (the Sowells kid) is an absolute stud and he will be returning. I'm interested to see what they will do. They will undoubtedly be a top 5 team, but how high in that top 5 is a be ? for me.

I believe that Manual will be in the top 3. They've got returning QB and RB and play very tough defense. I think they will have a heck of a year.

When will Hoptown and Christian County Merge?

It's really pitiful truthfully. Good thing the KFCA stepped up and started naming one each year. Hopefully they can continue to make it a bigger deal in the future since the AP is so slow with it.

With the current high school recruiting climate (Covid hold backs and transfer portal) it is more difficult than ever for high school kids to get recruited- especially the FCS/G5 kids. My question to everyone is what have your kids done to help them get recruited? Is there a certain service that is good compared to others? Most of those companies seem like money grabs more than helpful aids. Does your school do something specific to help their guys get recruited? Who are the best in the business? (obviously FD is the best in KY but they are also teeming with those kids so some of their stuff would be good to copy but most things wouldn't apply to other schools in the state)

How many more years do we think Greer continues to coach? I know there was a lot of talk in December about Haddix and Corbin.

Male has a center who is really, really good. That being said, Swinney seemed to be met at the line a lot this year compared to the year prior. Without Swinney (for the period of time that he was hurt), Wolfe chose to run a lot of empty backfield sets for what seemed to be a lack of confidence in the run game. It'll be interesting to see the style of offense he chooses to go with heading into next year with studs like Gainey and Harris as WRs and the loss of Swinney in the backfield.

I agree with this. This is the fix IMO. Some 2/3s need to be played.

With Coach Peach leaving Danville after a hard two seasons, who are the front-runners for this job? Number 1 that will come to everyone's mind will by Clay Clevenger, but would he still even want to come back after everything that has happened? Is Danville still an appealing job with Boyle County dominance of the area? This will be a fun one to follow this offseason.

I agree. Usually running clock scores are bad comparisons as a whole as each coach has a different philosophy on rotations, play calling, etc.... when they get to a running clock. Also, if a running clock starts in the 2nd quarter compared to the 3rd quarter, then that can have a significant impact on the score as well. Silly to compare those types of scores.

To me this is a coach issue. The coaches are the ones who set the culture. Teams who are preached at to handle adversity the right way avoid getting into brawls. Sure you might have one slip up every once in a while with a small individual scuffle, but if it is a team-wide issue that has a significant impact on the next game being played that that is indicative of a deeper rooted culture problem. Coaches have to teach their players how to handle adversity together as a team. This is almost more important then a lot of the x's and o's IMO.

I think the Mercer Co. and ETown game could be a good one. While ETown is the favorite, I believe that if Mercer plays hard and executes, that it could be a good matchup.

Travis Egan should now be put back into the conversation where he should have been all along. The complaint against him all season was strength of schedule and now he just had a career day playing both ways in a prime time 6A football game against Male and won. He should be thrust into the top of the conversation.

I think this is one of the most interesting games of the season. FD seems to be rolling on another level this year... but they were rolling last year too. I think it is always the physicality of Boyle County that shocks people and FD shouldn't be shocked this year. I think this is a very tight ball game that could go either way. I'm going to take Boyle county at home on senior night in a very tight one. BC-28 FD-24

Big time win for the program. This was the marquee game for them this year with having a slim chance to upset Etown or Bardstown in the district. If they can win this week against Thomas Nelson and next week against South Oldham, they will finish the regular season at 7-3. Talk about a rebuild. Good for them.

I've really enjoyed this podcast. This is wonderful for football for the state!

It's a shame Travis Egan isn't getting talked about. Had one poor game to start the season (had to get the nerves out) and now no one is talking about him even though his stats are big. 80 for 121 passing on the season with 1121 yards and 13 TDs. (224yrds a game). 30 Rushes for 259 yards on the season with 6 TDs. (51yrds a game).
