The 9-0 #1 ranked team in 5A the Broncos of Frederick Douglass will travel down to take on the 8-1 #3 ranked in 4A Rebels of Boyle County. The Broncos will be looking to avenge their worst loss since their inaugural season. Last season Douglass came into the game the same way they are this season at 9-0 and was smacked in the mouth early and often by the Rebels where they were down 27-0 with over 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. The remaining almost 25 minutes of the game was played at 7-7 with the final score being 34-7 Boyle win.

Both teams went on to successful runs in the state playoffs with Douglass going all the way to the state championship game for the 2nd time in 3 seasons losing to a very good South Warren team 38-26. They outscored their opponents in the first 4 games of the state playoffs by a combined 177-27 score. The Rebels of Boyle County did it one better they steamrolled through the 4A playoffs in one of the most dominating runs in recent history on their way to yet another state championship they won their 5 games to the championship by a combined 234-68 total.

This is a good game for both teams to have before starting their run in the state football playoffs the next week. Douglass is as talented as they have been overall in the brief history especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Rebels are once again very strong and have a very good chance to win yet another state title. The 4A is very good at the very top with 3 or 4 very good teams. On the 5A side I think a lot of people was not to sure of the strength and depth of the teams this season but as it has went on this season I feel many now think that it is the strongest overall class of the 6 classes. I still think that St. X is the best team in the state but it is starting to show based on scores the past few weeks that the 5A teams can hold their own with anyone in the state. This is a much needed game in the case of Douglass due to the restrictions they have on their scheduling each season. I am looking forward to this one. One thing with it being the last game of the season I hope no matter the outcome both teams finish the game with no injuries and head into the playoffs at full strength. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.

With all due respect to the hard working kids and coaches Douglass has faced this season....

FINALLY, we get to have a meaningful discussion about the Broncos. They've rekt everyone so far this year. No one in their right mind should ever overlook Boyle County, but this Douglass team is scary. I think the most important question here is, do they have the quarterback play necessary to unlock their full potential? This game will go a long way toward shedding light on that subject.

I agree I think this is the key question. I do think he has improved each week, but like you said it is hard to get a true evaluation based on the competition. I will say I think what they did to Scott Co. (41-0) especially and also to some extent Bryan Station (52-7) when you look at how these two have played in their games outside of Douglass. As I said above win or lose this is what Douglass needs heading into the playoffs. Best of luck to both teams!

This will be a fun one to watch. Boyle is one illegal motion penalty away from this being #1 in 5A vs #1 in 4A. This is a big one for Boyle because a win here potentially jumps them to #1 in the RPI keeping them at home throughout the playoffs. A loss and they slide to 3 and spend most of their playoffs away from Rebel stadium.

For Frederick Douglass I have watched a game (Bryan Station) and saw highlights on others. The defense is what impressed me the most. Aggressive and hungry. I think Boyle and FD have that in common. They really get after it on defense.

I do think this Frederick Douglass team is better than last years and I don’t think this BC team is as good as last years. But Boyle County has seemingly played the tougher schedule and they are playing at home.

This is a tough one to predict.

This is a big time game, lots of D1 guys for both teams. The one thing that worries me for Boyle is being without Cole Sims. The defense just isn't the same, and it showed at Lex Cath. Should be a good one.

I agree! He will be missed Friday night!

I think this is one of the most interesting games of the season. FD seems to be rolling on another level this year... but they were rolling last year too. I think it is always the physicality of Boyle County that shocks people and FD shouldn't be shocked this year. I think this is a very tight ball game that could go either way.

I'm going to take Boyle county at home on senior night in a very tight one.

I don't see it listed.  I know sometimes Boyle does their own video.

Anyone?

Haven't heard about this weeks game but in the past Boyle's network is Team1Prep.  If they get a sponsor it's been free.
