If Haddix and McPeek are smart - and I believe they are - every punt will land out of bounds and every kickoff will be squibbed. Bryant and Quisenberry might be the two best return men in the state. Allowing them to cleanly field a kick is an explosive play waiting to happen.

Ranvier kickoffs usually go out of the back of the endzone. Punt-wise, who knows. I hope to see a strategy like you said.

I think some teams have a "real" home field advantage:  huge crowd, loud atmosphere, ect.  Some teams I think the home field advantage is more perceived than real.  Just my opinion.

Douglas is probably a better team than most to visit, but wasn't sure of previous opponents without checking the schedule.

I expect a dogfight, should be an entertaining game.

I think even if the crowd does not provide an advantage, there is an advantage in not having to ride the bus and travel to a different place to play.

Not as bad for Douglass as some teams as they always take charter busses to any games outside of Lexington.

One thing that may affect Douglass more than anything this makes the 2nd year in a row that due to the KHSAA hosting the girls and boys state soccer semi-finals and finals at Frederick Douglass they have to come in and practice at 6:00am today and tomorrow due to this.

If your team is prepared this late in the season then this shouldn't mater. All that maters is what happens on the field on Friday night. You don't do that much on Thursday that it would matter if it is am or pm.

No doubt about it, it's going to be hard to get the W Friday at home.  Over the past 6 seasons Boyle has a 43-1 record at home since the 2017 season.   Douglas has steamed roll everyone in their path this year and something will have to give this Friday night!  Looking forward to a meaningful game!

Boyle Home Record

2017 8-0 @home  (State Champs)

2018 7-0 @home (Semi Finals)

2019 9-0 @home (State Runner-up)

2020 6-0 @home (State Champs)

2021 8-1 @home (State Champs)

2022 5-0 @home (  ??  )

43-1 Home record last 6 seasons with a 97.72% win percentage

Play somebody! ?

The new TP94 Power Ratings have it:

Frederick Douglass 118.73 Boyle County 105.74

It will be free and is typically a good broadcast. The Boyle student that commentates does a pretty good job of being unbiased and has a lot of personality.

Nice. My bluebirds are off and I think this is the best game of the week. Looking forward to it.
