Somerset Head Coach Robbie Lucas passed away today

Robbie Lucas passed away today.

Coach Lucas took over the job less than two weeks before the 2009 season. He led the Briar Jumpers to a 14-1 record and a State Runner-up that season. 

In 2019 he led Somerset to their first State Title, with a legendary finish.

Coach Lucas was a better man than Coach, he was humble to a fault and like most coaches loved everyone of his players. 

Coach Lucas leaves behind his wife Nicole, two daughters and hundreds of "Sons."

Somerset head coach Robbie Lucas  passed away today.

Just in shock tonight.  I know that he had been battling an illness all year, but this was unexpected.  My son played for Coach Lucas was a sophomore when he took over as head coach, I was the booster club vice president, and then president the next season.  He was such a great person to work with and did a lot to help my son, both in football and in life.  

I don't really have the words right now, but my prayers to his family. He'll be missed.

This is awful news to wake up to.  Robbie was a Great Coach and a better man.

He loved the game and he loved his players.
