“Programming Note—Robbie Lucas Tribute” 

Friday morning at 7:35, Tim Estes will be joined by Kevin Sheron on WPBK-FM to honor the memory of Somerset football coach Robbie Lucas. 

Kevin was Robbie’s teammate at Lincoln County, coached with him at Somerset, and made Robbie the godfather of his children. 

Tim is retired from teaching and coaching, and now hosts our morning show. Tim’s first year as a Lincoln assistant football coach was in 1987,  which was Robbie’s sophomore season. The picture below shows them together in the Junior Varsity team picture from that season.

Tim rose to head coach in 1997, and when he stepped down after the 2001 season, Robbie, then an assistant at Somerset, was picked to be his successor.

Robbie retuned to Somerset after two years at Lincoln County. There he eventually became the head coach, and won that storied program’s first state championship in 2019–with Kevin Sheron’s son, Kaiya, as the quarterback who provided the game winning heroics. 

Both Tim and Kevin have known Robbie for a long time, so you’re sure to hear some great memories from both of them.

Robbie’s funeral will be held Monday at 1:00 PM at Grace Fellowship Church.  There is a link in the comments with the full obituary and details. Visitation will be Sunday night and Monday morning at the church.
