I always felt that when we used 5 man crews it became important for the head linesman and field judge to help the umpire with that situation. For years the mechanic was for the umpire to move to the line of scrimmage on a pass play. Haven't worked in about 20 years so I imagine that may have changed. The RPO would make it really difficult.

Great story about a fine young man and family. Had the opportunity to be coaching when Chris was at Mason County. He was an outstanding player on a terrific team. Chief Smoke had a QB that played basketball ( Dustin Grutza) and would light it up if you could slow Chris a little lol.

Interesting that no one has mentioned what Coach Sullivan's teaching situation is currently. Sometimes people make positions that keep coaches from having actual classroom responsibilities. I believe the stipend for a boys or girls head coach in the Boone County system is $12,750 regardless of school or success level. People forget that in most situations coaching is an "extra duty" not the person's primary job in a school. He seems to be an outstanding coach. It's difficult for me to understand this situation, especially the timing. I trust he will land on his feet, Cooper will continue to compete, some will be happy, some upset. It's unfortunate for everyone involved, but very few know the entire situation.

Chief I believe you have lived this scenario and it seemed to work. As much time as coaching takes and with all the highs and lows your sons have a great perspective of what you did for them and the team. The biggest drawback is the " you're only playing because your daddy is the coach" ..... which is usually the cry of parents, not the players. Coached mine at lower levels when it was still fun.

One thing for sure......UK fans never change. Take the win and move on to the next game. Do fans really think the coach is happy with the defense? Do they think that he has watched a lot more basketball than most of us and is trying to improve?

It's tough to play as well as they did Sunday several times during the season. They were impressive and I imagine Carolina's Monday practice was interesting to say the least.

So getting players ready for the next level is more important than having your QB healthy for the entire season? Sell that one to moms, dads, and the rest of the fans.
