Interesting, Coach Wallace retiring now Coach Baisch coming to St. X. Maybe coach in waiting?

That was my first thought.  If anything, X gets a trial run to see if they want to hire him as head coach.

I was wondering the same thing.

Someone refresh my memory please, but did he take the Bethlehem job after leaving St X for a bit, before going to Lex Cath?

Levi Ray went from St. X to Bethlehem then went back to St. X.

Coach Baisch is an awesome coach and a better person. This job has become overly difficult. Changes need to be made.

Wasn't his OC the Athletic Director? I also have heard that the current principal is not big on athletics.

Correct about the offensive coordinator/athletic director - Dave Nurnberg.

And I've heard similar comments from a few different people regarding principal Mathew George...although as far as I know of, none of those comments were coming from anyone directly connected to Lex Cath. Principal George is currently in his 7th year as principal at Lex Cath, and although the sports programs haven't necessarily floundered by any stretch, it doesn't sound like George is much of a driving force to make sure the athletic programs at Lex Cath are a priority. That said, I think both of the football coach hires that have taken place during his tenure (Bert Bathiany and Nick Baisch) were really sound hires.

Someone told me that this is their 4th HC in 6 years?  Is this true?

This will be their 4th head coaching hire in 8 years and the 7th head coach in the 35 year history of Lex Cath's football program.

Bob Sphire (1991-2005)
Bill Letton (2006-2013)
Mark Perry (2014-2017)
Nigel Smith (2018-2021)
Bert Bathiany (2022)
Nick Baisch (2023-2024)
Current Job Opening (2025-??)

Nigel Smith was a great hire, but then he went for a career 360 and resigned to pursue law school. Bathiany was also a great hire, but he's a Northern Kentuckian and was offered the job back near home at Cincinnati Moeller....that's realistically just too hard for Lex Cath to compete with. Baisch did a good job of keeping the ball rolling at Lex Cath but again, he was offered a job "back home" in Louisville by his alma mater. It's really just a lot of tough luck for Lex Cath in a lot of ways.
