They are going after one big name first. If that doesn't work they are going on to a list of applicants.

Go on, who is the big name?

If I were making the decision to work at Lex Cath, my first call would be to Chad Pennington, and my second call would be to Chad Pennington.  After that, I would open up for applicants.

Interesting, Coach Wallace retiring now Coach Baisch coming to St. X. Maybe coach in waiting?

Still crickets I presume?

I hear Patrick Towles is interested.

Anyone?

As a former Lex Cath standout, UK football star, and NFL veteran, he’s ready to bring his experience, leadership, and faith-driven coaching back to the program.

Putting out a press release to announce that you've applied for a job is definitely a bold way to apply for a job. I don't know Winston Guy from Adam so I certainly am not trying to disparage him....could be a great hire for all I know....but I feel like if I was on the hiring side of things here, I'd have some mixed feelings about a guy who's trying to add that kind of external pressure to hire him when he's applying for a job.

Anyone have any idea what he's been up to since he was released by the Colts in 2016? I've got to assume he's got some kind of coaching experience on his resume if he's applying for a head coaching job.

I was asking the same question. Does he have any coaching experience at all? At any level?

I don't know if Winston has any coaching experience outside of summer camps.

Winston Guy was a member of our 2007 All BluegrassPreps.com Football team!

I totally agree on all points here. It seems to me that this applicant is only trying to use their "celebrity" status as a way to get a job. Not sure how I would feel about that either.

I also was curious about his coaching experience.

Ask St. X about how hiring a former NFL player with no coaching experience worked out for them.

I'm sure he knows more football than I do, but if he has no coaching experience whatsoever, I think it would be a big mistake.

We run into this from time to time it seems like. I don't know him at all and looked him up after the media release, I have to Agree with Colonels Wear Blue as well as these other guys. This has I want to be a head coach at my alma mater and I don't know the best way to use public pressure all over it. These pro guys know so much football it's truly amazing, but being thrown in the fire of being a head coach at a historic school with unknown responsibilities and organizational needs such as player management and development of young men. He may be fine but the public outcry for support screams ignorance. Am I crazy?

Does it scream ignorance or arrogance?

Putting public pressure on decision makers is a very bold move.

That would be a good hire. Was a great QB. Has he been coaching anywhere recently as an assistant?
