The KHSAA today announced the class of 2025 inductees into its Hall of Fame for 2025. The ceremony will be held May 4 at the Kentucky Bank Center Banquet Hall Room.

Robert "Bobby" Curtis= St. X (Ath.)

Phil "Cookie" Grawemeyer- Manuel (Ath.)

James "Joe" Hamilton- Dunbar (Ath.)

Billy Hicks- Evarts, Harlan, Corbin, Scott Co. (Coach)

Stephanie Livers- Elizabethtown (Ath.)

Congratulations to all of the class of 2025!

That's a terrific list of inductees, across many sports, going back over 70 years.

I'm particularly impressed some of the best track and cross country runners and a couple of swimmers made it this time. More than hoops dreams came true in the Bluegrass.

Several of these athletes went on to become All-Americans and NCAA champs in college, some pro athletes there, and an Olympic medalist too.

Well deserved recognition, congratulations!

I watched Bobby Curtis back in the early 2000s.  The most dominant high school runner I ever saw.  He was a machine on the cross country course and the track, and a two-time high school All-American. 

How has Billy Hicks not been in until now?

Even closer to home, “Little” Joe Hamilton has been a close personal friend for nearly 20 years.

This is in the hoops forum and most of the 2025 class are basketball folks, but others are listed so I'm going to veer off a little here ...

I'm a fan too. Twenty plus years ago not many in the country could match him and he's been the Kentucky benchmark ever since. Bobby's got one of the most exclusive HS All-American honors you can get, being named by 'Track & Field News,' "The Bible of the Sport." Not many more than a handful of Kentucky boys distance runners have ever won the award. He's represented the US internationally, and had a good career as a pro on the road racing circuit.

Almost a generation later and someone is finally close to matching Curtis for Kentucky HS boys career individual titles and it's taken some time to chip away at his record times. Keep an eye on Thomas Nelson's Riku Sugi who may match him for both. The last Bluegrass runner to sign with Notre Dame, Yared Nuguse, has set American and world records on his way to winning an Olympic medal last year. Kid has that kind of potential. 

As much as I'd enjoy taking in a basketball game with you, I think we'd have a blast at a track meet too. I'm going to clear my calendar for the 2A state meet this year. We can watch the Royals and Colonels together and see if this young pup passes muster too.

My dad was a HS track & field coach (along with football and wrestling) in the 50s and 60s.  I grew up with it.   People who say track meets are boring either aren’t watching or don’t care.  
 

A highlight was talking shop with Chandra Chresborough during a meet at EKU when my avatar was at Georgetown College. 
 

A meet-up at the 2A sounds like a plan.

This is mind blowing that Billy hasn’t been inducted previously, the process evidently is ridiculous and some aren’t even inducted until the passing of the individual, has to be a better procedure.

Did your dad ever bring teams to the Bellevue Invitational? For many years that was one of , if not, the top meets in KY.

Long trip from the suburbs of Baltimore, LOL. 

One of the neat things our (not my dad’s - same county but different school) school did was an “all-relays” meet.  Used combined times, distances and heights to score.  Two competitors for each team in the field events.  For example, if your two shot-putters recorded 50’ and 44’6”, the team relay result was 94’6”.  Kind of a novel concept.
