That was a good HS football game. Maher, Campbell, O'Hara, and Savage are gamers. The kicker for Cooper is money. Good luck to both moving forward! Hope the big guy for Cooper is ok.

That's a heckuva trip for a 10am JV game. I remember years ago when the Birds played up because of travel involved going to Harrison County or Rowan County lol.

And that's another reason we all love HS football.

It's not about if they will come to play. It's about who they are bringing to play. Cooper has a nice team that will keep improving.....Ryle is loaded. Too many weapons.

I am a Clemson fan but it looks to me like they are a top 20 not a top five team. Your Cards looked really good. It's amazing what the transfer portal does to change a team's direction. Evidence.....FSU. Be interesting to watch UNC with 70 new players!!

I've always realized that HS sports is all about talent. The last two years Cooper was loaded. Outstanding skill players. Right now Anderson, Highlands, and Ryle have more talent. Manual will probably be likewise. All you can do is lace'em up and give it your best shot.

With the size of their OL I'd think running the ball 70 percent of the time ( minimum) would pay big dividends.

Anderson is ranked #3 overall in Ohio and added some pieces to last year's Division 2 runner up team. Cooper lost quite a few talented players to graduation and transfer. I think this game was 8-3 in the third quarter. Cooper made a couple of mistakes and the inability to two platoon as previously was too much to overcome against a super talented fast paced offensive system. Cooper's RB ran for about 180 on 26 carries. They will improve but this is a much different team than the last two.

For all of us old timers it's good to see the Ads break that streak. Had the pleasure of officiating for those good Sam Harp teams in two finals, a semi, and two quarterfinals. They always had good talent, were disciplined, and played hard. Danville was one of the programs that you knew would be good every season.

People seem to bash team's schedules for being too weak. I think Cooper has a good schedule. They cannot dictate their district opponents. You might think the AD doesn't like the HC lol, but the Cooper coach/AD realizes just how important RPI is in the long run.

After reading all of these posts I've come to the conclusion that everyone with a camera, phone, media credential etc, just be allowed to walk around wherever, take pictures, video, ask the coaches why Bobby is playing instead of Billy, confer with the sideline officials, and just do whatever they feel will make the game a memory for the fans, players, moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, and impress SEC and Big 10 coaches. Gosh, it really is a blessing that I coached and officiated in an era where we didn't have to deal with this stuff. But, I did get to do the weather report during a pregame for Channel 5 lol.

And that's why you have been around for many moons Chief! To many this seems trivial.....but it's important and necessary. Game control is a huge part of officiating also. My philosophy was that it was my job to keep the game SAFE and FAIR. You set the tone as a crew from the pregame until the clock hits 00:00 in the fourth quarter. I hope this trend comes to an end. Went to a game between Myrtle Beach and Socastee about 10 years ago. Both were 9-0. Huge rivalry. Had seven separate locations with TSA type metal detectors and police officers wanding people. I was amazed. Told the officer I had never witnessed that in 41 years as a coach or official. He chuckled and said that they did it at middle school games!!

Knew an Ohio official many years ago who was running down the sideline on a play and was clipped by a camera. Had his ear re-attached to his head surgically. I guess that's a worst case scenario about videography on the sidelines.......and social media was no factor.

So I guess he did that while coaching lol?

Why wouldn't Highlands just line up and run it at people? All we hear about is the size and talent of their OL. Run two tight ends and pound people.

Guru may add a new element to BGP with a travel and restaurant category lol. When I was officiating our relatives would call and ask me about food, travel, schools during the playoffs. They always said between coaching and officiating I had been to a lot of places lol.

Saw where they are ranked #3 overall I Ohio, behind Moeller and Hoban..... and they are in the second biggest class!!
