  1. If you're going to take away the game winning rush by Castleman for being exceptionally large, then we better take away any other big runs from all the other games that led to their totals as well.
  2. Beechwood has become a great program, but it is a very old school and old football program, and they didn't truly start developing into a powerhouse until the mid to late 80s. 1984 was their first state championship. So with math over the entire existence of the program, it's not great. Now if we want to look at program's past 30 years or so, Beechwood will be somewhere near Highlands and Trinity in success as a program.
  3. It is unfortunate to say, but for a lot of the student body at that school, winning a game in sports is not toward the top of the list of things they have to consciously worry and focus on to get through the day. A way it could be fixed is somehow creating a culture where the football team is more than a team trying to win games but a supportive family that helps each other, such as having meals together, portraying football as an escape from those worries and a place to relax and enjoy the sport, and I am sure other ways. It is going to take some serious overtime and commitment from the whole school. That will grow the numbers, and with that unity I hope they can strive toward some wins.
  4. It's all talent. If Ballard ever gets a good coaching staff that can give those kids some direction I would advise the rest of 6A to not overlook them. But that is yet to happen.
  5. It will come down to Campbell County and SK and out of those two I'd have to pick Campbell County. They have some serious weapons on offense and a solid defensive scheme.
  6. The Beechwood Cov Cath game consistently draws an insane crowd no matter the expected outcome. That's why its tough to ask BW to call it quits on the matchup even though cov cath has made it not very competitive the past few years with their increasing growth and success as a program.
  7. I think that game would look a lot like BWs game against Cov Cath. Trinity may be down but the level of talent they maintain along with platooning alone would wear Beechwood out.
  8. Trinity's got a lot of momentum then lol.
  9. I know its just one game, and I can't speak for where Hazard sits compared to Pikeville yet, but they came up short against a team in somerset (although good) that was losing to BW 28-0 after a quarter and a half of football. I'm not sure if Hazard is close to the top 2 as of now. Definitely excited to see how that Pikeville matchup turns out.
  10. Huh that's weird. Calpreps rankings are a joke only when trinity fans are still butt hurt about not being as dominant as they think they are. yikes. That's a lot of heavy set middle aged men heavily breathing as they type aggressively.
  11. Absolutely. Those youth leagues are part of what make the rivalry so good no matter the score as well. Its a chance for all these former teammates for their whole youth get to play on the same field again, even if for some its on other sides of the line of scrimmage.
  12. If Danville and Boyle county winning state again reinstates Title Town, what does that make the 2 miles between Beechwood and Cov Cath who both won state quite confidently, with BW achieving a back to back?
  13. May have opted out because of scholarships. no need to damage merchandise that valuable in a game for bragging rights
  14. A.J. Mayer. great size and athleticism. But that is dwarfed in comparison to his football IQ. The guy is leagues ahead when it comes to making reads on defenses and his poise and decision making in the pocket. and I also agree. not even close.
  15. Not sure if anyone wants to share that information on here. I know I wouldn't.
  16. Raceland is possibly the only other team in 1A that I've seen (watching highlights and such) that plays with the hard nosed aggressive edge that Beechwood does. This is why small school is so much fun to watch. You have running backs that hit like linebackers, because thats their other job! wide receivers who fight for a ball like a defensive back because they have been taught and have experience in both! I see this a lot in raceland. Their offense plays downhill and mean because of the way they play on defense. I think beechwood does a lot of the same things. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner ends up being the only team to break 20 points. Defense wins championships as well as getting the job done in the trenches, and both raceland and Beechwood seem to have very good line play. Good luck to both teams! should be a good one!
  17. I think Cov Cath may have an especially great team this year, but I also believe this is the evidence of the system at work that has been building up to this. As long as they keep getting kids and the coaches stick together, this is the start of a big cov cath run.
  18. I'd say bleachers for visitor side are 2/3rds as big as the visitor side at CAL, if that helps. Not sure how much of the centurion crowd are making the trip but im sure they'll get filled up
  19. Either CAL vs Mayfield or St.x vs Scott County. CAL vs. Mayfield: - Leaving the comfort of their brand new everything to an older but nice facility (grass) accompanied with a long drive. WAR memorial stadium is heavily doused in tradition. -New kid on the block that has made a name for themself (CAL) from state last year takes on the kid who made the block in the first place. one of the most successful small school programs in kentucky historically vs. one of the best currently. -Get to see Joe Morris with his constantly well thought out playoffs gameplans plan against one of the best athletes in the state in Milton Wright. St.X vs. Scott County - The tigers offensive success this week is extremely encouraging and leads me to believe this one will go down to the wire. - Two teams who know how to beat trinity fighting for the chance to do so -in regards to talent/size/overall performance, this is probably 2 of the four best teams in the state going at it for 4 quarters for a state championship appearance
  20. Alright Joe Morris. If there is a man who can stop milton wright, I believe it to be you. Mayfield playing great football and peaking at the perfect time, as usual! Keep going Cardinals
  21. Looks like the tigers are getting some offense going at the perfect time!
  22. man. Campbellsville Beechwood in the semis. Pikeville on the other side of the bracket. Outside of Danville and Mayfield being great programs in 2A instead of 1A now, you'd think it was the 90's.
  23. Not your average 1A team. but we digress. the discussion is about sk vs trinity. and in that matchup there is no way sk will wear out trinity. i dont think a team this year has done that.
  24. I know on paper it is, but butler is pretty overrated IMO. And there's a big difference in the space they have between each other in that top 10
