  1. sorry didn't check 2A: Mayfield: 5 in 2A (1977,1978,1985,1986,1993) so a grand total of 11
  2. 1A State championships: Mayfield: 6 (1995,2002,2010,2012,2013,2014) Beechwood: 11 (1984,1991,1992,1993,1994,1996,1997,1999,2004,2007,2008) per khsaa 1A past state champions: http://khsaa.org/records/football/pastwinners.pdf
  3. And hello to you too. Just saying what I think the outcome will be, both defenses are not the best, but IMO Paintstville's will be the one to give up one more score than the other, hence my predicted score of 42-35. although this will definitely be a much more quality team than those Pikeville has had to face in the playoffs so far (they've had the easiest path to the semifinals out of all 1A teams), it will be a test to see if they can continue what they are doing against others to the big dogs.
  4. Same to you! May our feast on this Thursday be a glimpse at eternity in Valhalla, and our battles won on Friday be a step closer to it!
  5. Mark my words, this "bend not break" defensive performance by Paintsville will snap in half against Pikeville. Panthers hunt in the dark, and darkness will be cast over Paintsville Friday night. 42-35 Pikeville. The Dark Panther Rises.
  6. It's getting down to a few as to who will be state champions and many times it is considered that whoever wins the war in the trenches will win the championship. There is always a lot of talk saying a team's line is big but less often I hear about a fast/quick line. I know that at highlands (in the days of the repeat championships), often their lines wont weigh too much but they were some of the fastest on pulling plays, getting off the ball, or just quick feet at the line of scrimmage. I'm sure there are other schools like this or the opposite. What would you consider the greater advantage?
  7. Based on the growth and craziness of the thread I'm pretty sure the tailgating/pregaming at Memorial has already started. my goodness, wish the matchup wasn't so far away. should be a good one. Good luck to all and I hope for no available excuses for either side (good weather, no injuries, etc.). May the best team win!
  8. I was excited about the outcome of the Holy Cross game for Beechwood, they got a dose of 8 men in the box defense, playing their worst ever with a final turnover margin of 4 to LHC 0, and the beechwood defense was VICIOUS. good to know BW can rely on their defense as well to win games in the future. this is the kind of adversity that I was glad to see happen with an opponent I knew BW could beat to better prepare them and give them a chip on their shoulder for the rest of the playoffs. BW got much better that night, ignore the score, and knowing Noel Rash, this week will be extremely intense and BW will come Friday night better prepared. Beechwood wins and breaks the drought 35-21.
  9. The discussion went along with how my senior year after losing to Jonathan Jackson for the 4th year in a row, I told him "I really should hate you, but darn do I respect you."
  10. Its hard to lose at home when your stadium is so far away from most other teams that it feels like they should be coming up on the pacific ocean soon or at least in another state. also it might help a little when your team is really good... but that's not what we talk about on here
  11. well hopefully you're a player, otherwise you might be going to jail. But good luck either way!
  12. season's not over yet for the bluebirds. (far from over in my opinion) save this kinda chatter for off season. like what ryle did with their thread they started now that they've lost.
  13. well put together. I'm a numbers guy so I like the set up. All you can look at are numbers, the intangibles you have to watch and see on Friday nights. Good luck to all teams this Friday!
  14. feast on market street. probably $12-14 per person. downtown but that's not too far from the downs. if you like BBQ then you will LOVE feast. or pretty much any place on bardstown. bunz burgers if you are looking for a cheaper stop (on bardstown).
  15. There is just a significant gap between the elite programs and everyone else in a lot of situations, sometimes these teams meet even earlier i.e. st.x and trinity every year and other matchups as well. It's just the results of letting everyone in the playoffs (although I am in full support of allowing that, I think it gives everyone a chance, just like the 16 vs 1 seeds in march madness. sometimes the upset happens, and that 5% chance that it will happen is enough to keep it going).
  16. and with the large font/bold you have gone from informative to braggadocious.
  17. OC must pass the ball well and take advantage of the gap priority defense, otherwise it will be a very long night filled with blaring stereo systems hanging out of the back of trucks for Owensboro Catholic.
  18. well it sounds like this Dee Cain and Slusher should hang out sometime because they go through the same stuff in a game. all you just said pretty much describes slusher
  19. Many times in the past this playoff week for BW was a grass field in Frankfort, ky. on road with grass field has never stopped them in the past, don't see any issues now.
  20. Do not judge all for the misspeaking of one
  21. ooh long snapping. that's good stuff. people underestimate the benefit of being a good long snapper
