  1. I know its the very bottom of the rankings, so at that point its a bit of a wash, but how can manual with a 3-7 record still be 15th when Eastern who beat them (and scored more against them than PRP in much worse weather) and has played butler and ballard close, and truly a few plays in those games from winning can still be not even shown?
  2. As long as Joe Morris is at Mayfield I have a tough time ever seeing the Cardinals being unable to compete for a state championship. And with the home field advantage for a lot of the playoffs, they will be tough. Great stadium with great crowd and tradition. And as for schedule, it has never mattered. When they were 1A state champs many times, and 2A. They will be prepared with the best gameplan against each opponent.
  3. Cov cath by FAR is the best. After that it could be a few, SK, Ryle, BW
  4. In regards to the BW player, he may have been touching the ball before the white hat blew the whistle to start play and the play clock. But most of these things with the football and placement the ref usually will just give a heads up to the player. Haven't seen it become an immediate penalty very much. And the center can adjust the ball as long as he does not remove it entirely from the ground or significantly moves it away from where it was placed.
  5. Got to get there first. They will most likely meet regional final at the earliest and will have to play at least one tough Louisville team to get there
  6. Bring back some small school classics like Danville, Bardstown, Pikeville, Mayfield, or Beechwood playing one another.
  7. Sorry didnt mean to ruffle your feathers. I just thought that the 50 yard line was the middle of the field, where teams make the wall of their players at the 45 and the 35, where beechwoods line of scrimmage for their warm ups was, is on one side. But maybe you know something I don't.
  8. I dont think it was a big deal. They are so close it shouldnt matter. The only thing I can see being frustrating is cov cath gathered in the in-zone of what was obviously the beechwood side of the field (because they were running through offense right there) when they got there and then charged around the tigers to their side of the field. But at the end of the day its just football and let the kids get excited to make a good game. As long as its harmless and is respecting teams and football, let them have some fun. its their team.
  9. This game might go down as legendary in smaller school history if these teams follow through with what is expected the rest of their season. 2 Qbs who are considered by many to be amongst the best in the state, great defense, diverse playbooks. Should be a fun one. Good luck to both sides!
  10. so you are validating my statement that they cant create separation between teams not on their athletic level?
  11. And as for game break down the panthers had 2 big TD plays and a short field where they put together a good drive to score. After the 10 minute mark of the 2 qtr they could not score and for the most part even had a tough time moving the ball. Teams that don't fumble the ball 3 times in the 1st quarter like Eastern will not give them the chances to score like they did. Eastern had a few big plays get called back as well. The game was much closer than the score. The panthers seemed to just be fighting to survive in the second half. That will not work against even some of the teams below them in the rankings.
  12. I think this game was little bit of both Eastern not being as bad as first thought and PRP being not as good as first thought. The panthers did not respond well to thunder delays and Eastern fighting back. This seemed to be the first game where the panthers were truly wore out by going against a team back and forth for 4 qtrs. This was a good wake up call for the panthers. They learned a lesson that the best teams in 6A will come in and get the job done all 4 qtrs no matter the opponent. Now it is up to them to make that change or be ok with being just good.
  13. All players started and played 4 quarters considering they couldn't put a drive together after the 10 minute mark of the 2 qtr
  14. it seems as if specific teams were not included. for example where are all the trinity players? Although I am aware a lot of the starters for trinity are juniors/sophomores. I also didn't see much scott county or SK.
  15. but that was the very first game of the year, and SK was actually good this year. I'm not saying they're better than all 6A teams, but they are better than a lot of them. SK was one of 6A's best this year
  16. I used to firmly believe this, but then saw situations like CAL this year embarrassing some of the better 6A schools in the city of Louisville. Upon the occurrence of injuries, the 6A schools definitely have depth, but sometimes teams like CAL and Belfry just get these absolutely stellar classes that kick butt.
  17. i didnt consider it a run but i saw someone else mention a similar situation with lots of semifinalist appearances and so wondered if that was legit or not.
  18. With Beechwood's recent state championship, i think it could count as a run, having started and ended with championships as well as the future looking bright to continue this run. 2007, 08, 16 state champions 2015 runner-up at least state semifinalist all but one of those years in between
  19. Eastern has a lot of potential: big school, pretty consistent enrollment of good athletes, supporting fan base. But for some reason, kids are not motivated to join the team. There is a looming attitude that eastern is not and never will be good at football. I feel like this is a common issue with struggling programs. how do you get kids to come out and play?
  20. my coach always told me good special teams kills your opponent. And now bad special teams can kill your own team.
  21. Cal's punter is great. The cal vs. desales game was a clinic of good defense and great punts.
  22. That's always the challenge. They try to make sure the refs are unbaised but at what cost?? The way 6A teams play football in lexington and Louisville is just too much to not put a ref that has experience in that position.
  23. It's hard to say what would have happened in the 90s if the "ifs" and "buts" were fulfilled. So you have to go with the facts of what happened. We have to remember BW was pumping out D1 recruits as a 1A school in the 90s including a RB who went on to play for the KC Royals in the MLB, and they were wiping the floor with significantly larger schools who were no joke either. I doubt we will see a run like that ever again by BW. That was one of those freak times where everything seemed to come together at once.
